Here is part of a message I just sent to some of my family members- I have worked briefly on some of my family's genealogy that goes back to Mayflower passenger Francis Cooke- and as I go farther back, there must be thousands of people who share common ancestors who are also descendants of Francis & Hester through THESE particular lines, some of whom ended up in Lennox & Addington County, Ontario, Canada-if any questions, please post here or contact me directly- the names I have included below are just the tip of the iceburg in my files, so that there are many, many more people in same lineages who are Francis Cooke descendants.

Thanks from Nora in Alberta, Canada

I have just discovered that some ambitious people have made a documentary about the crossing of the Mayflower from England to North America- this documentary will air Sunday November 19th @ 8:00 pm or 7:00, be sure to check times and which channel exactly- my info says the History Channel (which makes sense)- the three hour long documentary is called:

"Desperate Crossing: The Untold Story of the Mayflower"- I looked at brief online clips and it looks to have been well done, but what a godawful sad story it is. It was produced & directed by a gal named Lisa Wolfinger of Lone Wolf Productions.

If anyone ever asks how we are descended from Francis Cooke & Hester Mahieu, this is how it goes- (I am long overdue to do the work that is necessary to apply for membership for our family in the Mayflower Society- just kind of a nice thing to have if you are at all interested in this fabulous history & genealogy):

A Brief Ancestry of my immediate Family back to Mayflower Passenger Francis Cooke:

Another family with Mayflower ancestors was the family of Nathaniel Leonard who died 1828 in Grenville-Leeds County. After Nathaniel’s death his widow, Jane Mcdonell remarried Samuel Lockwood of Ernestown and the Leonard children were raised and married into Frontenac/Lennox and Addington families. They were
1. Joseph Helmer Leonard 1809-1877 m. Susannah Lockwood.
2. John Duncan Leonard b. 1811 m. Laura Brooks.
3 A male, whose name I could never discover.
4. Raymond Henry Leonard 1815-1895 m. Margaret Cowan
5. Mary Leonard 1816-1896 m. Hiram Smith, son of Darius Smith.
6. Catherine Leonard b.1818 m. John Benjamin Powley
7. Hiram Leonard 1821-1895 m. Mary (last name unk)
8. Nathaniel James Leonard 1823-1906 m. Elizabeth Eleanor Wright.

I would be interested to find out where all the descendants of these people ended up.

Hi Eric, thank you for replying to my message and for posting this info- I do hope you will hear from other people now that they have these names.

How incredible- I had Jane in my files as second wife of Samuel Lockwood only as the "Widow Leonard" which is how she is referred to in the John Collins Clark diary. Do you have her exact dob, dod, where she was born, when and where she died, etc.?

I will check to see how Nathaniel is related to Mayflower families- in that descendency that I posted I have an ancestor Elizabeth Leonard born 1702, might she be related somehow?

Thanks from Nora

Was your Elizabeth Leonard the wife of Benjamin Wildbore or of Meshack Wildbore? Benjamin and Meshack were brothers and I have no dates to go with either of them or their marriages. It is possible that the Elizabeths are the same person. With so little factual data to go on, it is also possible that I have an error.

Benjamin and Meshack Wildbore are my 2nd cousins 8 generations removed. I have a substantial number of ancestors for them.

Surnames: Pringle Prindle Dibble Garrison
My cousin and I are searching for info on Francis Pringle and his wife we descend from The Pringle's of Lennox & Addingdon through Francis Pringle/Prindle born about 1777, he was the son of Joel Pringle Jr and Mary Woodcock we have alot of info on the Pringle's we are trying to figure out who Francis married. Francis Pringle married a women named Rhue who I believe was Rhue Dibble born abt 1780 daughter of Eli Dibble and Rachel Lockwood of Danbury, CT. Francis Pringle was living next door to Eli Dibble around 1799-1801 in Adolphulston. I am trying to find out what happened to the Eli Dibble family after that to see if he left a will or anything that might reference who his daughter Rhue married. I am curious if any one has any info on why the Dibble's went to Canada and anything about the Lockwoods of the area. One of the reasons I believe we might descend from the Dibble/ Lockwoods is that Francis and Rhue had a son named Joseph Lockwood Pringle born abt 1809 and I know that Francis' cousin William Pringle married Rachel Lockwood sister of Rhue. I know there was another Joseph Lockwood Pringle born about the same time as ours who staid in the Lennox & Addingdon area, ours moved later to Tuscola County, MI where he died. He had married a Lady named Mary Ann Dale. Any help on these people would be appreciated. Lana

Hi ,
This Lockwood Pringle( m. Mary Dale -born England) does somehow fit into the Pringles of the area. However it is still a mystery as to which of the Pringle brothers( Joel, Timothy, william ,etc) settled the area he belongs.( Many researchers out there are confusing the 2 Lockwoods in their research- one married Sarah McNeil/McNeal- daughter of Francis & Mary and sister to Lauchlin McNeil while yours as you state married Mary Dale) I strongly suspect that he is somehow connected to Rev Andrew Pringle - who entered the Methodist ministry in 1806( he was the first Canadian born Methodist minister). I have not been able to get further info on this Andrew at this time. However there is a biography of a William Allen Pringle who discusses how his line of Pringles are descended from the original Pringle men that came up to Canada to fight and whose ancestors combined farming with ministry. When I check the 1851 census- some of children names hint at possible association:
Lockwood and Mary are showing the following children-
Charles
Andrew
Frances
Rhuann
Perhaps by following the children through the years , there might be an answer somewhere in their info.

Dear Kim,
We have documented the children of our Joseph Lockwood Pringle ( my cousin Gayle Karsen descends from him) and his brother William born abt 1805 who I descend from and their sisters, Rachel, Lucinda, and Matilda. We have records where Francis is the father of our Joseph Lockwood Pringle and his brother and sisters and that Francis is the son of Joel Pringle Jr, we are stuck at who Francis Pringle married. Since Rhue seemed to be a slightly uncommon name and Francis was living next door to Eli Dibble who had a daughter named Rhue I figured the chances of our Rhue being the Daughter of Eli Dibble were good also the fact that Eli Dibble married Rachel Lockwood was also clue I would just like to find proof of it. I also wonder who the parents of the other Joseph Lockwood Pringle were I have seen where he has been put with different fathers. As for Andrew Pringle I think I saw where he was the son of Richard & Lana Pringle, what do you have? Which Pringle do you descend from? Thank you for your response, Lana
