I don't know if this is of any help to you, but whilst researching my own family, I have noticed the surname Gobert in the cemetery at Peruwelz, which is a border town in Belgium north of Valenciennes(in France).
Have you tried the newsgroups? They are very helpful. There is a French genealogical newsgroup and one for Benelux which I have found. The Benelux one is mostly in flemish/dutch with some messages in English and French.
Best wishes, Diana

There was some Gobert's who were friends of my grandparents. There were several Belgians who settled in and around the Columbus, Ohio area. I knew them from Buckeye Lake, Ohio. At that time it was a great summer place. I remember some.

Reply to Barbara Gobert: there are Goberts in the village of Suxy (also spelled suscy) Belgium, Province of Luxembourg, in the first half of the 19th century.

I don't know if you are still looking but if you are . .

My gr grandmother (Emma Sambre Ladrille) was married to a Henry Goebert. He was her second husband and the 1930 US Census shows them living in Butler, Pa. Her birthplace is recorded as Belgium and his as France. She emigrated from Belgium in 1895 with her first husband, Camille Ladrille.

If you think this is a connection or you know anything about the Sambres or Ladrilles, I would be very interested in hearing from you.
