Can anyone help me locate a place in the Parish of Rathven. The OPR's for births in 1729 & 1754 are quite difficult to read but the place name would appear to be Broadhyth. (the Broad bit is definate) I can not find it in a modern or old map of the area.

Possibly Broadley, just NE of Bridge of Tynet & SW of Glashturim & Leitchiston. Broadley is note on the 1876 Ordnance Survey Map of the area. It is not on early maps such as Thomson's Atlas of Scotland or the Atlas by Bleau.

Thanks Robert for your reply but since posting the message I think I have managed to work it out.
The family I am researching are definately fishermen and the OPR's I am looking at state Broad Hythe. An old map shows a fishing settlement on the coast from the, then, inland village of Findochty as Broadhaven which was settled in 1716 by fishermen from Fraserburgh. Today's map shows that the seaside street of Findochty is called "The Hythe"
I am presuming that the place I am looking for is now a part of Findochty.
