I have a similar problem. On a baptismal record for one of my husband's relatives, it says the father is "gallus civis". Dusting off my Latin, it appears that this says "Hungarian Citizen". Whether this means he was Hungarian, as opposed to being an official citizen of the Austro-Hungarian empire, I don't know.

According to a reply from tappy1996 in the Severomoravsky board, "Galicia was a crownland of the Austrian Empire. The western half is now in Poland and the eastern in Ukraine."

The reply was to the same author of this thread.
