I did not find a death reference for a James Lewis. However, there is one for a John Lewis who died 1885. There is no obituary but he does a have a probate record; Probate D, Page 328.

The following reference from the obituary books may be in reference to Catherine Lewis:
LEWIS (Probate Court) Katy C. Lewis, as guardian of Ethel Q. Lewis, a minor, made her second annual settlement.
Benton County Democrat 7-23-1891

I would also check on these following probate records:

Box 22 - Lewis, John - 1888 Estate - Adm. B. Newkirk
Box 124 - Kate C. Lewis - 1935 Will - Adm. Ethel Walker

I hope this helps!

Here in Benton County, the family spelling is Caviness and Cavness. Buried in historic Goad Springs Cemetery (west of Lowell 1 mile) are:
Cavness, Susan E. 2/11/1842 - 4/7/1889
wife of B. W. Cavness; aged 47 years, 1 month, 26 days "one blessed sabbath morn the sun rose in the sky, God called the brigh spirit of our best friend home never to die."
Cavness, Rebecca 1/15/186? Wife of Matthew Caviness
Cavness, B. W. ? - 1/15/05

Not a direct line of mine, but I note a Susan Cavness (sp) b 1830 Tenn who married Jasper Dunagin 1847. Children married into Stokes, Tuck, Seamster, Threet, etc lines.
