most Wetherell/Witherells who live in or around Taunton, can trace themselves back to at least 1627 and sometimes the Mayflower, although not through a Wetherell.... give me some more data, on your father.... age, place of birth, etc, and on your grandfather and perhaps I can link you to the line you are looking for.... contact me through this or directly... via e-mail...

Thank you for replying to my inquiry about Merton Wetherell. I have since found a little more infomation about my family. My granfather Merton's father was William P. Wetherell born in 3 /19/1888 in Freetown MA. He was married to Annie E. Phillips. We think his father was Eugene B. Wetherell. Eugene was married to Abbie(?) L. Wilbur and maybe Lydia Haskell after he had William. Anything else you may be able to tell me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Jason Wetherell

My greatgrandfather was from PA., died in Mount Vernon,NY but family folk lore says he had the family bible tracing the wetherells back to Taunton in the early 1600's. My grandmother, Florence claims he left a wife in Philidelphia but never told my great grandmother. He was so dispised that the family refused acknowledge him- so the bible disapeared. Does any one have any information on the Mass-Pa connections?

Looking for any information on a Diana Wetherell who married an Ebenezer Baker and then Jonathan Parks after Eben died. She is suppose to be from the Boston area, and was born +/- 1800

Hello,
I see this thread happened 10 yrs. ago, and I haven't looked at the old postings. But, I just checked the census pages, the WETHERELL name does not show up in 1790 in MA. It does show up in 1800. There were 5 households in Bristol County, but no Merton. There was one household in Plymouth County.
In 1810 there was only the one household in Plymouth Co. In 1820, there were now 6 households in Worcester County, again no Merton.
In 1820 there were 2 households with the WETHEREL spelling. In 1810 6 households in Worcester County. In 1800 there were 4 households in MA with that spelling.
In 1800 there were 19 people with the WITHERELL spelling in MA, most in Bristol County. In 1810, 21 homes. In 1820, there were 30.
In 1820, there were 7 with the WITHEREL spelling. In 1810, 8. In 1800, 2.
That's all I'll offer this morning.
Betty (near Lowell, MA)
