I am looking for any information regarding a Katherine Lehr and a Jacob Weber who immigrated to US about 1903 from the German colonies in Russia, Messer or Reinwald.

my great aunt pauline gorte was supposed to have married a Jurk, alexander Jurk changed to york...from saratov...but probably from reinwald..however...her daughter disputes this...that his real last name was georg and changed to york...the gortes...or degorte...came from reinwald...they came over in 1902...but my cousin said her father and grandfather came over ten years before...the gorte's came over on the boat assyria..on march 22, 1902...if that helps...

I am looking for any information about the Jurk surname, villages from, etc, in the search for my g-grandfathers family. He was David Jurk, married to Emilie Pauline Altergott of Schwed. They both emmigrated during 1910 and were married in Chicago(David's sister Julia lived in Chicago) in 1910. They had one son, Heinrich (Henry) in 1912 in Sheboygan where they settled after emmigration. David died in 1915, Emilie in 1965. David had at least one brother in Sheboygan, maybe two. He supposedly served in the Russian Navy earlier in his life.

I read your response to the surname Jurk. My husband's grandfather, Gottlieb Jurk, and great grandfather, Carl Jurk both immigrated from Reinwald, Russia. I will have to check when. My mother-in-law also has a hard time with the last name Jurk! She and her husband, Henry Jurk, had it changed to Yurk about 40 years ago. The family of Gottlieb Jurk all pretty much lived in Genesee/Shiawassee Counties (Flint area) Michigan.

Researching husbands family g-grandfather Adam Jurk is said to have come to the country in the early 1900"s. They settled in Sheboygan and had 11 children. Wondering if David Jurk might be a brother, it is said that Adam had 11 brothers abd 1 sister but haven't confirmed this. If anyone might have info please e-mail me. Thankyou Kim
