If you have Sedores in your Canadian ancestry, you may be interested in the following:

Sedore Family History, Volume 1 of a planned four-volume history

Volume 1 traces the descendants of Coonradt Sedore (New York ~1734-~1810) and Antje Bouckhout through four sons
Isaac (came to Canada), Stephen, Frederic and Jacob and their grandchildren, and mentions his great grandchildren,
whose biographies will appear in future volumes. Eventually 10,000 descentdants and about 6,000 of their spouses.

Sedore was a very unique name in early Ontario, and the vast majority of Sedores can probably trace their name back to
Coonradt.

If you would like more details about the book please email me direct. It's published in the States,
and my connection to this is that one of my husband's gggrandmothers was a Sedore.

My husbands great-grandmother was Phoebe Sedore, daughter of John and Margaret Sedore. nee: Margaret Thompson.

Phoebe was born in the Dominion of Canada, about 1826, and she married Jacob Barnhart. Jacob died in Canada in the spring of 1853. They had three sons, Leman, Noah and William. Phoebe came to Mecosta County, Michigan in 1860 and married George McGill, date unknown.

There is an old stone at Quigley Cemetery, which shows John and Margaret Sedore which date back to the eighteen century. I believe these are Phoebe parents. I have pictures of it. It is located up on top of the hill, buried in a lilac bush.

Do you have any information on Phoebe or Jacob Barnhart?
My e-mail address is: hershe2@msn.com

No relation to the Sedore's, but my Mother's family name is Bouckhout. Does the book tell any thing about her family?

The book is available from Willow Bend Books:
http://www.willowbend.net//search.asp?page=451&SearchTyp...=

I checked my copy, and this volume only goes as far as Coonrad's grandchildren - basically births up to the 1850's.

Anna H. isn't listed.

Hello,
I'm not sure you got the info you were looking for but, I have quite a lot on this family. I'm not sure you are aware of it but there were more than 3 sons. In addition to Leman, Noah & William, there were 2 daughters, Margaret and Fanny and a son, John.
Please contact me at PixieSchultz@verizon.net for more info. I would be happy to share. Also, you can review my tree on ancestry.
Hope to talk to you in the near future.

Hello Paul Forhan,

Regarding your aunt Cecilia Sedore Forhan, I am related too. Cecilia's mother, Rose Hodgins, was my gr-gr-aunt.

Do you know when, where or how William Sedore died?

I have a studio photo which my mother believes to be Cecilia with her grandparents, Michael Hodgins & his 2nd wife Alice Dermody. The little girl looks to be about 4-7 years old.

I've heard that after William Sedore died, Rose was unable to care for daughters Cecelia & Alice Maud. Cecelia was enumerated with her Hodgins grandparents in 1911 census, and was an heir in Michael Hodgins' will.

I have another photo dated after WWII of Herbert Hodgins (grandson of Michael), his wife, his sister-in-law and two young men with very curly hair whom my mother says were named FORHAN.

I'd love to correspond with you about the Forhans & Sedores.
Sincerely,
Laurie

Yes, Joseph Breckon b abt 1822 and Christopher Breckon b abt 1834 were brothers, sons of James Breckon b abt 1794 & Mary Lepard b abt 1804.

Christopher Breckon's wife Ann Hodgins later married Stephen Lepard (son of Adam Lepard & Susan Spring). Stephen later married Hester Sedore Sweet, daughter of John D. Sedore & Sarah Ann Keetch.

Stephen Lepard's brother Samuel b abt 1866 married Mary Ann Sedore b abt 1868, dau of Isaac Sedore & Isabella Breckon. Isaac was a son of John D. Sedore & Sarah Ann Keetch.

These Sedore, Lepard & Breckon families are so intertwined! Below are three basic 2 generation reports. I have used marriage, birth & death records where possible. I have collaborated with other researchers, but always try to check the records. The LEPARD name is often under Leppard/Leopard/etc. For my own database, I keep them all as Lepard. Same with Breckon/Brecken.
I would appreciate any corrections others may be able to provide, as I realize how easily errors can be made.

wow...good luck with that! :)
I am unable to help on that one, I have chosen to back away slowly from my Sedore side. Someday...
I do have John Sedore and Sarah Keetch married, and another wife (first? second?) Mary Elves/Elwes. Unfortunately it was put down in the days before the importance of recording sources was realized, so I wouldn't count on that!
The only other Keetch on the tree is my modern-day Mitchell first cousin married a Keetch.

I think this might be Alice Dermody, the daughter of Mathew Dermody and Ann Griffin. My information shows that Alice was born 04 June 1856. Her father (Mathew) is my g-g-grandfather. I did not have any information re: Alice. Alice's nephew, James Edward Dermody, married Margaret Hodgins in Newmarket, Ontario - they were married 10 June 1910. If you have any further information re: Alice, I will appreciate it - thank you.

Alice Hodgins nee Dermody was indeed the daughter of Mary Ann Griffin and Mathew Dermody per her death registration, which says birth 04 JAN 1856, death 22 Aug 1928. I have attached a copy of it.

1901 & 1911 census give her birth date as 04 Jan 1857.

1861 Census:

Do you have a marriage date for Alice Dermody & Michael Hodgins? I estimate about 1879, as Michael's first wife Alice Breckon died 19 Aug 1878 and the 1881 census shows Michael married to Alice Dermody. Also, Michael's obituary (he died 23 Oct 1922) reads, in part, "Fourty-three years ago he married Alice Dermody, who also survives him."

In her later years, my grandmother wrote her recollections of the Hodgins family, and had this to say about Alice Dermody Hodgins:
After Michael Hodgins' death, Alice Dermody lived alone in his house in the town of [Newmarket], Ontario, Canada. In the year 1928 or 1929, the neighbors noticed there was no movement around the place and went over. She lay on the floor dead. She had been preparing a meal and was taken suddenly. The oil stove had gone dry and the meal she was preparing was burned black.

That's all I have on Alice,
Laurie

The cert says Alice's death date was 19 Aug 1928 and date of burial was 22 Aug 1928.

Sorry for the mistake.
