I am searching for a void in this family [any spelling] .. a void that might be filled by my ancestor, John KARSTETTER b.1790/1800 Pa .. married Barbara ? .... had 3 daughters born in Pa before 1829 and then moved to Crawford County Ohio before the birth of a son, Samuel in 1830.
Some of the descendents of the KERSTETTER etc. family lived in Centre County [also what is now Clinton & Mifflin] ....
1. Leonard KERSTETTER Jr [1783-1869 Centre Co Pa] and wife Maria Elizabeth Schreckengost [1781-1857]. This is NOT my particular line, but I have info about them!
2. Johannes "John" KERSTETTER [1760-1813 Centre Co Pa] and wife Catherine WOLF. Their children .. 1.Martin 1787-1827 Pa .. 2.Mary Magdelena 1794-1828 Pa[m]Peter GRENINGER .. 3.Elizabeth 1790-1829 Pa[m]Michael BOWER .. 4.Christine ?.. 5.Maria 1786-? [m]John Henry GRENINGER .. 6.Jacob 1801-1827 Pa .. 7.Samuel 1805-1827 Pa .. 8.Phillip 1808-? .. 9.Juliann 1812-? .. and 2 or 3 unknowns?? One may have been "John" [m.Abigail Appolonia] who is recorded Richland Co Ohio census 1850?
3. Rudolph KERSTETTER [1770-aft 1850 Il] and wife Anna Maria [or Margaret]. Their children .. 1.Adam 1795-1841 Pa .. 2.Samuel 1799-1832 Pa .. 3.Michael 1802-1871 Pa .. 4.Jacob 1805-1874 Pa.. 5.Elizabeth 1804-? ..6.Susan 1814-1887 [m]Peter BEERLY .. 7.Catharine 1815 [m]Harmon BARNER .. maybe? 8.Peter 1808-1886. Did he have daughter Phebe 1814 [m]O'DANIELS who went to Stephenson Co Ill??? Did he have a son John??
4. Johannes Adam KERSTETTER [1757- ] and wife Catherine ? .
1800 census reports 5 sons and 4 daughters for them. Some of them MAY BE? ... 1.George 1780-? Noble Co Indiana .. 2.Elizabeth 1782-? .. 3.Johann Adam 1791-1853 Richland Co Ohio .. 4.Henry 1790-? Ohio .. 5.Jacob 1790-? Ohio .. 6.Peter 1790-? Ohio .. 7.Salome 1805-? .
Do you see any mistakes? If someone has any information about any KERSTETTER etc. connection in this area ... I would be grateful to hear from you.

In my lineage, David Neese (1794-1872) married Susan Kerstetter (died 1872), who was the daughter of a Valentine Kerstetter. They had 12 children. That's about all I have on them so far.

This may be confusing matters more, but in regard to:

2. Johannes "John" KERSTETTER [1760-1813 Centre Co Pa] and wife Catherine WOLF. Their children ......One may have been "John" [m.Abigail Appolonia] who is recorded Richland Co Ohio census 1850?

My tree has a John F. Kerstetter (b. 1819), married to Abdolone or Appolonia or Absolone or Abalone Kramer (b. 1822), nicknamed Abby; but his father was Daniel Kirstaetter (b. 1798), married to Maria "Polly" Frey (b. 1801). I recently found several KERSTETTER / Kirstaetter trees, but haven't entered all the info in my tree yet.

Uhoh . . . I just found a Daniel KERSTETTER at ancestry.com, showing his birthdate as 1829, and his parents as John KERSTETTER and Maria Polly Frey. And a brother, John F. Kerstetter, with the same parents. Then they have a Daniel KERSTETTER with the same parents I show, but two different wives than I have.

And while my Johann Martin Kirstaetter is shown married to Magdalena Huckenburger, ancestry.com has a Johann Martin with the same birthdate, but married to Maria Dorothea Frey.

But they also have listings matching my versions!! I'm so confused!! Obviously some of these sources are wrong ~ but which??

Deborah Hi,
i just saw your posting and thought I'd help if you still needed it. Maria Dorothea Frey was Johann Martin Kirstaetter first wife. and Magdalena Huckenberger was his second wife.
