Go to Kartenmeister.com, scroll to the bottom of the first screen and enter zielona gora in the polish city name field.It will show you that it wa formerly Grunberg and that it then covered three counties.For family search in Schlesien go to Rootsweb.com ,Mailing Lists,Cental Europe to the DEU-SCHLESIEN list with your request. My name was Richtsteig, grandfather Richard from Berlin nd arrived in U.S.A. in late 1800's. Lived in the Chicago area until his death. I am looking for any links to him. TRyin to see if he is related to Max Richtsteig.

Hi my mothers family left Grunberg and settled in Germany , I only know some history , that my mother came from an affluent family and were forced to leave their villa on my mothers 18th birthday by the Gestapo , a day a big ball had been supposed to be held to celebrate her birthday. sadly my mother passed away 3years ago and was always hard to get any information from , remembering would upset her, the family name was Fechner. if anyone knows of anyone with the same name or any information I would be very grateful , thank you

I know the person with the last name Fechner. His first name is Grzegorz(Gregory). He is living in Zielona Góra(Gruenberg).
I saw him about two weeks ago in the old town. We used to go to the same primary school. He is 56 years old.

Wow that's intreasting ,perhaps an elder in his family could know a lot ,it would be so cool ,as most of what I knew was during the occupation ,and sadly others that know a lot more will be sadly either to old or have passed,but I do know there is much to know .
