Former Slave Descendants of Thomas Hadden

Does anyone have information on the descendants of Thomas Hadden and his slave Rose? The children were named in Thomas' will and released from slavery at his death. I just read something that stated that the children went to Ossining with John McCord who taught them blacksmithing. Has anyone tracked those descendants? May have also been known as Hedden, Heady, Heddy, Hed, Head. Several are buried in the Heady cemetery. I would be interested in comparing research with anyone who descends from or has researched this family. Kris Morison Morisonk@aol.com

Hi, I am not related to this family but I do cemetery research in upper Westchester County. I worked on the clean-up on the Heady cemetery by the Boy Scouts several years ago. I have a listing of who is buried in the cemetery and also have the will of Thomas Hadden and an article on the Heady family of New Castle by Michele Rose (from the New Castle Historical Societys newsletter dated 1993). My ancestors (Orser) lived on the adjoining property of John McCord. Norman MacDonald wrote a book (about 60 pages) on the McCord Farm at Ossining, NY 1750-1937. It is available from the Ossining Historical Society.
