I am looking for any information on my grandmother, dozinna guillory, she married my grandfather linzay or lenzy duplechein and they had my father dudley duplechein. I believe my grandfather died and my grandmother then married august fontenot and they had my uncle richard fontenot. this is all i know because my parents were divorced when i was about 2 yrs. of age. i didn't know my father until i was 12 and saw him rarely. please let me know if you have any information.

thank you,
norma

Hi Norma,
Can you give me a time frame on the birth or marriage of linzay or lenzy Duplechin and your grandmother dozinna guillory. Or perhaps a birth date on your father. Are we talking pre 1930??

Also, is this Louisiana..if so, what parish did they live in??? I could do a search in the 1930 census, for starters...

Let me know,
Rita

I just read your post of 29 Nov 2003, re: "...grandfather died and my grandmother then married august fontenot and they had my uncle richard fontenot ..."

In that connection, Emilie Augustin Charlot Fontenot of St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, who was born in the 1820's, on December 23, 1841 married Flournoy (Bug, Flamoy) Hebert, and died before January of 1846.
One of the witnesses who signed her marriage record was Augustin Fontenot, ... might be her father?

Flournoy Hebert is my great grandfather (and a brickwall to research!). He was married 3 times:

- On December 23, 1841, married Emilie Augustin Charlot Fontenot
-He was married Jan. 6,1846 to Azelia Jeansonne
-January 2, 1871 he married Celestine Deville, (widow of John David Clark. She was the daughter of Louis Deville and Celine B. Johnson.). Looking for offspring of all 3 marriages?

There are quite a few Fonenots at:
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/c/a/r/Debbie-S-Ca...
scroll down.

Some of this may be of help to you. If you see anything on any of these, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Russ Hebert

Good Morning Norma Jean,

Dolzina Guillory, born 10 Nov. 1891, in St. Landry Parish (now Evangeline Parish), bt. Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ville Platte, LA.

Dolzina was the d/o Octave Hilaire Guillory, b. 5 Oct. 1862, bt. Ville Platte Church, married 31 Jan. 1882, in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Chataignier, LA, Marie Emelie Fontenot, b. 27 Dec.1864, bt. Ville Platte Church.

Octave Hilaire Guillory was the s/o Hilaire Guillory and Marguerite David. Marie Emelie Fontenot was the d/o Froisin Fontenot and Marie Louise Desiree McGee.

I have listed 5 children for Octave and Marie:

1. Daisy Guillory m. 17 Jul. 1906, Ville Platte Church, Alice Isreal, d/o William D. Isreal & Louisa Fontenot

2. Senator Dolsey Guillory, b. 1882, d. 1942, bur. Miller Cemetery in St. Landry Parish. Dolsey m. 20 Dec.1904, in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Eunice, LA, Leah (bt. Marie Lua) Fruge, d/o Ortere Fruge & Lydia Miller

3. Eloi Guillory, b. 13 Feb. 1887, bt. Ville Platte Church, m. October 14, 1909, Eunice Church, Marie Ida Miller, d/o Alexander Miller & Alida Fruge

4. Dolzina Guillory, b. 10 Nov. 1891, bt. Ville Platte Church, m. (#1) Linzay or Lenzy Duplechain; (#2) Auguste Fontenot; marriages are from your query. I looked in the Fontenot book, but did not find a marriage for Dolzina and Auguste Fontenot. Information in the Fontenot book came from the first 31 volumes (year 1900) of Southwest Louisiana Records, donated family files, and research in France by Robert B. Ardoin. In 1900, Dolzina would have been just 9 years old. Do you know when and or where they married? Fr. Hebert's SWLRs end with the year 1909, when Dolzina would have been 18 years old.

5. Stanley Guillory, b. 23 May 1906, bt. Eunice Church

Octave Hilaire Guillory and Marie Emelie Fontenot were found in the book "The Fontenot Family 1600-1903". You can trace all of your Fontenot ancestors in this book. Their children are not listed in the Fontenot book. The Information I have on the children was found in "Southwest Louisiana Records" by Rev. Donald J. Hebert and in the case of Sen. Guillory, I found his birth and death (years only) in the Miller Cemetery records.

I am editing my very large database, and if I ever finish editing, I hope to publish my research. In my research, I have used published Catholic Church records, cemetery records, census records, family histories, and donated family files.

Rosie Morein Wells (native of Ville Platte)

I have two individuals named John David Clark in my database.

(#2) 7 July 1878 (Opel. Ct. Hse.: Mar. # 10575) Marceline Johnson (aka Jeansonne) d/o unknown parents.

Your response and information much appreciated. This will followup yours.
First, you might visit these two urls if you haven't already seen them. On the second one you'll have to scroll to bottom of that page.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As to your questions - much of what I have is either from census data only, or from a couple of other family websites that have some crossover. Example, the Hansen family, http://members.cox.net/jhansel/hanselfam/ and Debby Carpenter's site http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/c/a/r/Debbie-S-Ca.... (both sometimes wrong I think). I have little verification -- largely accepting at face value until proof found.
According to Hansen, Jean Bte. Jeansonne was born in Avoyelles Parish, don't know where he married Marcelene Mayeaux, but could have been Avoy. or St Landry?

I'm not sure where the children of Jean Bte. and Marcelene were born, except that Hansen says Benoit was born in Mamou, Evangeline parish. Others may also have been born there, but there is quite a span from first born (1831) to last born (1849) and they could have moved ... also, wasn't Evangeline carved out of St Landry as well as other realignments in that time period?

Regarding a Flournoy and "Emily" connection ... according to Hansen "Emilie Dit Milan HEBERT "Melo". [Parents] is a daughter of Flournoy and Azelie (Jeansonne) HEBERT. BUT the chronology/timing seems off to me, can't yet clearly state it ... But "Emilie" may be getting confused with (according to Carpenter): "Amelie HEBERT (daughter of Francois Ebar HEBERT II and Marie Anne Dolly Morella/Morel) was born April 04, 1822 in Rapids Parish, LA, and died date unknown. She married David Sr. Clark, son of Jessie Clark and Mary McClelland.

The relationships below are from Hansen, except the last one (Amelie), which is from Carpenter. Hansen uses 'Ahnentafel' numbering.

108. Jean Baptiste Jeansonne was born 9 Oct 1809 in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana. He died about 1850 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. Jean married Marcelene(Marcelline) Mayeaux.
109. Marcelene(Marcelline) Mayeaux was born about 1811 in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana.
110. David Clark was born about 1809 in Opelousas, Louisiana. He married Emilie Dit Milan HEBERT.

111. Emilie Dit Milan HEBERT "Melo".

54. Benoit JOHNSON was born 1832 in Mamou, Evangeline Parish, Louisiana. He died 18 Feb 1915 [1917?] in Turkey Creek, Louisiana. Benoit married Louise Clark.

55. Louise Clark was born 11 Jul 1841 in Louisiana.

110. David Clark was born about 1809 in Opelousas, Louisiana. He married Emilie Dit Milan HEBERT.

222. Flournoy HEBERT "Bug Flamoy" married Izellia(Azelie) Jeansonne.

223. Izellia(Azelie) Jeansonne was born 1818.
