Ruth Dell Burchett McMillan was the wife of Arthur Fields McMillan. These were my grandparents. Ruth was the daughter of Rosey Burchett and James Columbus Hill. James and Rosey
were never married. James married Annie Vannoy.

Alleghany cemetery record from
Alleghany County Cemeteries through 1986 shows

JoAnn Austin father: Alvis
Ellen Marlin Bedwell b 5-21-1864 d 10-12 1931
(It would appear from this that Marlin was either her middle or her maiden name.)
No Inez Brown listed.
No Henry Clay Burchett.
No Grace Burchett.

Barbara Jean Hill is shown to be the daughter of Claude
Hill and Gladys. I have a Claude Franklin Hill born 1910,
but I don't have his wife's name. Claude Franklin Hill was
the son of James Columbus Hill and Annie Vannoy.
Denver Loggins - father Dennis Loggins
Waylon Loggins - father Dennis Loggins
Daylon Loggins - father Dennis Loggins
Waylon and Daylon were twins.
Rose Mary McMeans - father Blaine McMeans, mother Treva
James Osborne (matching dates to yours) father -
David Osborne, mother Alie Leota Landreth
Oscar Parsons _ no parents shown, however they do show
he had an uncle Andrew J Ward.
Polly Anna Parsons shows with dates you give for
Molly Polly Landreth Parsons, however no parents are named,
no mention of Molly or Landreth.
No Bryant Kent Reedy, however there is a Braynt Kent Reed,
b 1930, d 1930, father JB Reed, the mother may be living so
I prefer not to post her name here.
Jesse Wilma Weaver father Johnson Weaver, mother Lucy J

from
1. Henry Miller Cox, George William Cocks, John Cox, Cox Family in America, privately published 1912.
2. Verl F Weight, with W.C.M Cox, As A Tree Grows, genealogy of the Cox family, 1962

Major Cox -note - Cemetery record show no dates or parents
however both the above books show that
John D Cox married Ruth Ann Cox had a son Major. This is
probably him. Ruth Ann Cox was the daughter of John
R Cox and Eleanor Ward (Weights book shows Ruth's parents)

I have posted the preceeding information with the belief that all persons named here are deceased. My sincerest
apologies if that is in error.

The other persons you name are in the cemetery records,
but no parents or family information is given.
If you got these names from Family Search or Findagrave,
I suggest you email the submitter asking for proof
of those not in the cemetery records. If you got those
from your own visit to the cemetery, then the published
book of cemetery records do not include them.

Hello Jerry,
It's me again, (Bonita). I have information regarding one of your inquiries as to who were the parents of Dennis Loggins. Dennis was my grandfather's (John Henry Loggins) brother. Their parents were Stephen F. Loggins and Elizabeth (Cettie) C. Loggins. I have not been able to find out what Elizabeth's maiden name was yet.
As I said I'm just starting this so I'm just a newbie. :) Anyway, I was telling my mother that I was doing this and she spoke of a phone call she recently got from Sara McMillian inquiring about some information about this same grave yard and Sarah said she'd give the information to Jerry, so I couldn't help but wonder if that is you, is it?
If so that leads me to my next question, I'm assuming that this is your real name and if so it sounds very familiar to me, were you a teacher at Piney Creek way back when?

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Bonita

PS, I wish I had more info about Vestal & Grace Sprinkle. Were you related to Grace?

Bonita, yes I am the same Jerry Adams that Sara McMillan is helping gather information. We are getting ready to print the cemetery book from the Piney Creek Cemetery and just rounding up some last bits of information. I did not teach at Piney Creek but attend there from 1967-1975 and Alleghany High School in 1979. There was a teacher at PCS in the early 1970's by the name of Jerry Absher. I have lived in Knoxville, TN for 20+ years.

Grace Adams is a relative of mine and I am very interested in finding out more information about her parents---Creed Adams and Pocahantas Pedigo. Creed Adams and my great great grandfather were brothers. Would you know anyone that might be a distant relative of Grace Adams?

Good luck with starting your research.

Thanks so much for your help!

Jerry Adams

Thanks for your reply.
I can certainly understand your interest in finding more about the Pocahantas link as I saw that when I was doing a little research yesterday. I'd want to find out more also.
I will be glad to send you any information that I might find that would be relevant. What is the name of your tree and is it public? I don't want to duplicate what you might have already and you've been doing this for quite a while as evidenced by your board posts.

I wish you luck also in finding out more information. Seems I've hit a few walls already. I'm sure that's normal stuff for this. :)

Keep in touch,
Bonita

With regard to the parents of Pocahontas Pedigo, I suggest you check the LDS search engine www.familysearch.org as there is a very complete set of records posted by John F Holm of Midvale, UT that I have found very reliable when checking Pedigo family members. John shows parents as James Selden Pedigo & Louise/Louisa A Lawless and takes Pedigo line back a number of generations. As with all records found on-line, one should check their reliability against other sources. In this case 1880 GraysonCo,VA census shows Pocahontas as 1 of 4 children of James & Louisa.

Bonita posted back in July as part of this thread:
"I wish I had more info about Vestal & Grace Sprinkle."

I research the Sprinkle family and have quite a lot of information about Vester and his ancestors. Happy to help.
