My Wifes great Aunt Joanna Hoffman, I'm told was married to a fellow from Spencer. They got married when she was 17, or 18, I believe. That would put the marriage date sometime between 1933-1934. However the date may have been a few years later. They (Joanna and Roy) divorced after World War II. They had been living in Florida working as civilians at a shipyard or something like that. They moved back to Spencer where Roy started a sheetmetal business.
Joanna didn't want to live in Spencer and divorce him and moved to California. Where she married a fellow from New Mexico by the name of Eddie Ortiz. She worked for and knew personally, Merle Norman. Joanna and Eddie were good friends with Merle and his wife. (or so I'm told)
I just resently heard about her first marriage and was in need of the information for my wife's tree. Joanna was from the Rockport area and Roy Leisure(not 100% sure of last name) was reported to be from Spencer. Any information about their marriage and/or divorce would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your help, I was told that they divorced in the mid to late 1940's in Spencer, Roane County. Joanna moved to California and married Eddie Ortiz. Wondering about Roy and the divorce, told he remarried, lived in spencer. Anyway thank you for you help again.

I will see if I can find anything for you. I am a title abstracter and work in the Roane County Courthouse 2-3 times a week.

I have been looking up my fiancee's family her mother is a Moore, would your Moore family be from Pleasants or Ritchie Co. ?
