Surnames: Gwartney
I have found more information on my family line and am hoping it will give someone more clues as to where I fall in the huge family!

My father: Billie D Gwartney
Siblings: Donald, Jay, Barbara

His Father: Clarence Vern Gwartney
His Wife: Besha Gwartney-Sadler
Siblings: Buck, Alama, Louie

His Father: Montgomery Gwartney (could be his middle name)

His father: Lafayette Gwartney (could be his middle name)
His Wife: Mary Gwartney

I understand that the family may have lived in the OK, KS areas. That is where My Grandparents met. They moved to Redlands, CA early in their marriage I believe, for several years before moving to northern CA. I do not know when their family actually moved. Both Grandparents are buried in Citrus Heights, CA.

My father's siblings have all passed away. My father cannot seem to remember much more. He is the only living relative that is old enough to remember anything. I keep picking his brain, but any help would be appreciated!

Hi Cindy,

Yep, we're everywhere. This was a hole in my database so I did a little research....

Billie Dean Gwartney - b. 8 July 1932 Riverside, CA - mmn (mother's maiden name) Gwartney ( I THINK this may be your father - if Riverside is in San Bernardino Co. and mmn Gwartney is a mistake) There is another Billie Dean Gwartney born in 1955 - too young.

John William Gwartney - b. 17 June 1933 San Bernardino Co., CA - d. 17 Feb 1999 Granite Bay, Placer Co., CA - mmn Sadler

Donald Richard Gwartney - b. 9 June 1936 San Bernardino Co., CA - d. 15 Nov 1989 Orange Co, CA - mmn Sadler

Barbara Joann Gwartney Cavalier - b. 8 Nov 1939 San Bernardino Co., CA - d. 4 Jan 1995 Sacramento Co., CA - mmn Sadler

Daniel Jay Cavalier - b. 9 May 1963 San Bernardino Co., CA - d. 3 Nov 1993 San Francisco Co., CA - mmn Gwartney

Also appears to be a Samuel J. Cavalier - b. 13 Jan 1961 in San Bernardino Co, CA - no death record

Besha M. Gwartney - b. 1 Dec 1908 MO - d. 27 Nov 1966 Placer Co., CA - mmn none listed

Clarence Vern Gwartney - b. 28 Sep 1908 - d. 6 Mar 1983 Placer Co., CA - mmn Crabtree

On my way out to lunch with a friend but a quick check of the 1930 census looks like William and Bertha with children Helen, Clyde and Edna also a Lewis in Labette Co., KS. This makes sense because a bunch of Gwartneys left Mayes Co., OK and moved to KS. I found this in a narrative by Gertie Gwartney Gott in a Labette Co. history book. You'll probably want to get obits for as many as you can. If you do I'd appreciate a copy. Could Montgomery have been William Montgomery? So far I have children William and Margaret for Lafayette and 2 wives for him.

Bye for now,
Pauline

Hello I am Louise Gwartney's Grandson. Its nice to have gotten a tip from this site. It's nice to know Im not the only one left. I currently reside in Auburn, Ca area. This is thearea Louise lived in until his passing a few years ago. I don't know alot of the family history but I may be able to fill a gap or two.
