Looking for long-lost Smiths

Could anyone advise me how I could find out more about my late father's family, please? His name was Gearge Smith and he was born at 28 Nelson Street, Newmilns, Ayrshire in 1921.
I know that his father's name was Gearge Smith and that his grandfather's name was Geroge Smith. I was named after my late father's grandmother... her name was Jeanie Murray... My father's grandparents were married by Rev. John Robertson on 31st December 1877 and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in the Morton Hall on 2nd January 1928...

Any information would be greatly appreciated...

Hi Jean,

If you have exact dates of deaths for the family members you could ask the local council/s cemetery department for the lair details for their deaths.
This will tell you who/when bought the lair and who is buried in the lair and when they died. It also tells you the lair location which you could use to see if there is a headstone.

Have you tried going through the local newspaper/s to check for any intimations for the family?

tata

Alex
