My Granddad was born in Liverpool England, he was married to Isabella Kelly, maiden name unknown, his wife died in the Halifax explosion Dec 12th 1917 and lived at 49 Kaye St Halifax NS. From the history I have found she is buried at Fairview cemetery, Halifax NS we don't know if there was any children. My Granddad was in the Canadian Royal Navy at the time, a few years after she died he came back to England and not long after married my Grandmother Hetty Kelly (nee Croft).

you can find her death in the nova scotia vital statistics under Isabella Kelly. She is the last entry on the page, so it would be difficult to find children, since she is listed as 40, I'm sure she had some.

Hi, I just checked the deaths for Kelly for 1917, Isabella, husband's name is Joseph.
Susan, 67 died from the tumor.
Francis, 30 died on the Highflyer.
Clifford, 1 month, his mother was Mrs. James Kelly
So if there were any children, perhaps they were already married at that time?

You didn't mention the age of Joseph KELLY, or when he might have left Liverpool and come to Halifax. Since you are talking about the timeframe of 1900, I'm wondering if your Joseph KELLY could have been a "British Home Child."

I just checked one BHC data base, and there were 2 Joseph KELLY boys coming from Liverpool, and there was a Joseph KELLEY coming from Liverpool.

You also didn't mention whether Joseph and Isabella had already married before they left Liverpool, or married in Halifax.

P.S. My great-grandparents were born in Liverpool, Lancashire, England, ~1860, and both came to Halifax as "Home Children" in 1874 and 1875. They married in Truro in 1879, and came down to Boston, MA, in 1881.

My grandfather was born in Sep 1887, I don't think he was married when he arrived in Canada I think they probably married in Halifax. As far as I know he arrived in USA approx 1900 1901 and travelled around as a hobo for a while?
