Hello,

John Hardie Moulder was the brother of Henry Hardie Moulder, born in London. As I recall, there were several brothers. The family owned a livery stable in London. Henry Hardie Moulder was my grandfather, who died in New York City before I was born.

My father told me that the family name was originally Mulder and that they emigrated to England from Holland when Cromwell allowed Dutch Jews into England.

Apparently it was a Dutch naming convention to give the same middle name to all.

I'd be greatful for any information.

Thank you,

Hi Evelina
Thanks you that infromation, since i posted this massage ,i have added some more information about John.
What infromation do you have on john parents,i can only go back to William Moulder born c1814 in Buckinghamshire, you say that your father said tha name was Mulder and came from Holland, although the name Moulder was in Buckinghamshire in the mid 1500's.

Michael

if it's the same guy (not sure about the "W" in his name) - he married Agnes Cecilia Hand.
They had a son called John Hand Moulder, b.13/04/1914 (I'm still not sure if they had other children)
Hope this helps...
I heard that the family came from Germany (still trying to figure out when) with the name von Mulder, then changed it to Moulder and became Catholic.
