Thomas, James, Jack, Margaret? Detroit MI?

I'm hoping for a connection with any surviving relatives of the above. Margaret (nee McCue) was the Mother (b 1870'ish) who came over from Scotland to stay with her sons Thomas and James when her husband (their father) Thomas (b. 1861'ish) died. I think Jack was a son of James but he was around the same age as my father Peter (b 1925). I assume this because, my father (who was in Canada training with the British Fleet Air Arms) met up with Jack (who was in the US Navy in 1944/45). There is some confusion over whether this was in Detroit or Brooklyn but the last know address is Detroit.
Anyway, this Jack Hagan who would be in his 70's was apparently a well-known radio DJ in the 50's.

Please e-mail me if you have any connections with any of these or indeed you've heard of Jack's radio show!

Thanks
Mark (MarkHagan@bigfoot.com)

Well I've just found Thomas' arrival into the US. I found it in the Ellis Island site which is excellent (when it's not too busy).
He arrived on 4th December 1922, age 32, on the Anchor Lines ship Columbia. It appears he was on his own so I may be wrong about the brother called James and perhaps Jack is Thomas' son. I'll have to find out some more.
It looks he stayed with a friend in Elyria, Ohio - Frank Rourke. I expect he moved on to Detroit afterwards to work in the car factory.

Still no takers??

Thanks in advance.

One more attempt!

Ok. I may be flogging a dead horse here but I'll give it another try! Also my email address was wrong before so who knows!

I have now confirmed via the 1930 census that Thomas Hagan married Jane White (sometime around 1923) and by 1930 they had two kids Jack (5) and Margaret (1 and half) located in Wayne County, Michigan. Thomas' brother James (22) was also there and may have come over around 1924. I may have found Thomas's social security number as there is a record that matches his birthdate in Scotland which shows that he died in 1970.

If anyone can think of anyway to contact people potentially alive today that would be great.

Thanks
Mark Hagan

Frank Rourke of Elyria, OHIO was my great uncle, the brother of my grandmother, Anna O'Rourke, who moved to Maine. I have not been in touch with any of my OHIO relatives. I'm afraid I can't help you more with the Hagan ancestry, but I thought I would at least get in touch on this coincidence.

Elyria Ohio is in Lorain County. (Coincidentally I am descended from HAGAN and my husband's folks are from Lorain Co Ohio so I loosely read both postings sites. Have you subscribed to the Lorain County Ohio mailing list? Send an email to: ohlorain-request@rootsweb.com - leave the message blank. In the subject line type SUBSCRIBE. This will get you on the mailing list where you can send out a general posting to the entire Lorain County list. Good luck.

Richard, thank you so much for replying even though you can't help on the Hagan side. I have pretty much given up hope! It is good to at least get some confirmation of the information I had. It also may have prompted some other very helpful information which I am going to try out. I look on enviously at the progress a lot of the list participants make but now you've given me a bit of a boost!

Thanks again and all the best!

Mark Thomas Hagan.

p.s. my best friend growing up in the 70s was Patrick O'Rourke so the connections go deep!

Hi 'JenFly', thanks for the info. My relative ended up in Wayne Co, MI by the 30s so I'm not sure how long he stayed in Ohio. But I will give it a go! Thomas had to meet his wife - Jane White - somewhere and it could have been there! Also, it got me thinking that maybe there was a similar list for Wayne Co, MI.
