This is From Ancestry.Com. Hope it all copied ok. Someone has a family tree. Don't know if the information is correct or not. I found a picture of Richard,Pearl,Cyntha, & David Southern. I didn't know if they are your family. If you have Ancestry you can find it under Lewis family tree. Hope this helps. Didn't find them buried in two major cemeteries in Wagoner.

Just thought I would pass this along in case you might want to check it out. There are 3 Southern living in Wagoner. It might be possible they are grandchildren or great grandchildren of your Hardy. If you go to anywho.com and type in Southern then Wagoner, Ok...It will give you the names, addresses, and phone numbers. Two of these are probably husband and wife and then there is another male with a different address and phone number.

Thank you for your reply. When I was in Wagoner we called the ones listed in the phone book. I think I might try them again.

I can't find any thing on the last name of Torebom when we went to Wagoner we thought Mahala had married Roscoe Gordon but I can't locate information on him. I sure wish we had access to more years of census.

Think you so much for trying to help. This is one thing I would like to accomplish before my time is up.

I know what you mean, I have a few of those myself.
If you go to www.odcr.com and you can look at it. If I find anything else I will send it to you.

Attached is the Application for Marriage License, Marriage License and Certificate of Marriage for Wagoner County, Oklahoma's Case No. MLI-2017-00027 taken from www.odcr.com/ that Peggy first found. A search of that database shows a Roscoe E. TOREBOM, Jr. married Mahala SOUTHERN in February of 1943.

However...

When you see the actual paperwork a different bridegroom's name emerges. The document is attached, so you read the handwriting and see if it shouldn't be:

Roscoe E. GORDON, Jr., age 20, resident of Camp Gruber, Oklahoma, who married Mahala SOUTHERN, age 16, of Wagoner, Oklahoma, on February 13, 1943, before E.Q. FLOWERS (a justice of the peace), and witnessed by the bride's mother, Mary Ellen SOUTHERN, of Wagoner, Oklahoma, and Effie _?_allings of Porter, Oklahoma ( a nearby town).
