I have Crawfords from Beith in Ayrshire from about 1770's onwards. Some of them are found in other towns through marriage and jobs over the years.

I too have forebears as above who are descended from ROBERT WHITEFORD and JANET CRAWFORD of Beith. Vitally interested to find Janet's actual birth date. I have 4/11/1804.
Penni is descended from the JANET CRAWFORD (ORR line) and I am from MARGARET CRAWFORD line who married SAMUEL RALSTON.
Please keep me up to speed with any developments as I will too.

I have Janet Whiteford's 1885 death cert.She was 62 when she died. Her husband is Thomas Orr. Her parents are listed as Robert Whiteford & Janet Crawford. I can't find any info on them yet.I found a Janet Crawford married to David Whiteford 1822.I found a David & Robert Crawford (Brothers )born in Beith to a Robert Whiteford & Janet Fairly(Feurley)...
Are we searching the same family? It's so easy to get things confused.Can you help me unravel this?

We are on the same wavelength. I am descended from a sister of the JANET who married ORR. Her name was MARGARET, a daughter of JANET CRAWFORD/DAVID WHITEFORD. I have their marriage date of 1822 but was uncertain of ROBERT'S parents, apparently ROBERT WHITEFORD/JANET FEURLY(Fairly)

I don't see an immediate connection but I'll keep the names in mind as I go through the records. The 'Crawfords of Beith' that has been compiled started with the male Crawford s. So it is possible to go through every Crawford family listed and note all the daughters named Janet born around 1800 listed, but that wouldn't really clarify anything and just lead to a lot of possibilities.

If I come across anything more definite I'll get back to you.

The only info I have is parents of James Dunlop christened 6,March 1845 Kirkinner,Wigtown......Marriage certificate James Dunlop to Ellen Orr , Dalry 1870. James parents were ...James Dunlop & Janet Bryan ( O'Brien ) still trying to find more info on them.......James sr. was deceased but Janet was still living in 1870. let me know if you have any info ...thanks, Fiona
