I'm wondering if anyone has any imformation regarding a Sarah Rishel, born around 1824. She was the wife of Joseph Morrison. I'm thinking she may be a child of Solomon Rishel and Sarah Harpine. Thank you for any information!

Lisa,
I have a Joseph Morrison b. ca1818 to Edward Morrison Jr and Elizabeth Sechler. Joseph married a Sarah b. ca 1824 and their children are: Mary, Julian, Jacob, William and Samuel.
Do not have Sarah's maiden name. Is this the Sarah Rishel to whom you refer?
Appreciate any updates on data for this family. Sorry I don't have anything on the Rishel line. Be glad to share any other data that might fit.

Hi Bob,
My information comes from a death record for a Sarah Alice (Morrison) Wolfe, who died in 1937. She was the daughter of Joseph Morrison and ? Rishel. So far I have not been able to connect her directly to the Joseph Morrison and Sarah of Mahoning Township, Montour county in 1850. I haven't been able to find this couple in the 1860 census. Sarah Alice was born in 1862, so if I could find Joseph and Sarah in 1860, it would probably make it a little easier to find them in 1870. I'm assuming they are her parents. Do you have any further information on Joseph Morrison, like his parents or where he was born? I appreciate your help!

The Joseph Morrison in my line is the son of Edward Morrison Jr. Edward might have been born in NJ, however, the 1850 census says PA. In 1850 and 1860 ceusus Edward and wife, Elizabeth are in Mahoning Twp, Montour Cty.
I find Joseph Morrison and Sarah, along with the children mentioned earlier, in Valley Twp, Montour Cty PA (1850 Census, NARA microfilm roll 801).
I'm not sure I checked 1860 census for Joseph, but I would start with Valley Twp.

Hi, I am also researching Morrisons in Valley Township. My line is from Edward (senior) and Sarah Lucas' son, John (born 1784 New Jersey), brother to your Edward (junior). I found John in Valley Township in 1850 with his son, John Jr. They moved to Wisconsin by the 1860 census (John's other son, William, also moved to Wisconsin) - Beaver Dam. Have you been able to gather any more information about Edward (senior) and Sarah Lucas?

I have only been able to find the following:
From history of Columbia and Mountour Counties, PA. They resided in New Jersey (1780, 1793) before moving to Mahoning Township ca 1804. Valley Twp was formed in 1839 from Mahoning. Mahoning belonged to Northumberland county, then Columbia, then Montour. Northumberland was formed 1772 from Berks and Northampton counties. Children all born New Jersey. Edward of Scottish descent.

Appears in Tax lists for Chesterfield, Burlington Co, NJ 1780 and 1793.

If you're still out there, I found a Sarah Rishel, daughter of Geo. Washington Rishel around 1824. G.W. was a son of Solomon. Sarah was a sister to my GGF, Peter A. Rishel.
Found it in the 1850 census
