hello, I am Joy Smith, My Grandmother Bernice Myers was born in Iowa to a Wilhelm Kurtz/Kuritz. Her mother's name was Orie Tegler. I have a copy of their wedding picture. They lived in Auburn, Nebraska for quite a while. I am also looking for information, as well since Wilhelm left his family when my Grandmother and her sister Opal were very young, not much is known of his family. I know that he is related to the Kurtz that settled in Springfield, Minnesota

I am soory to hear of any family being left. I believe that the Kurz,Kurtz did not live in Minnesota. Give me time and believe the Kurtz or Kurz live in Dodge , Nebraska related to mine but anything is possible. I do not have a lot on the family/ What time period is your Wilhelm Kurtz

Thank you for your response.. Wilhelm Kuritz/Kurtz was born 30 Apr 1887 in Hanover Germany, When my Grandmother was born they lived in Strawberry township or County, Kansas. I have census records showing them living there in 1910 before my grandmother was born, and when her sister Opal was born in 1914, but after that he disappears. I have since found out that when he left my Great Grandmother, he settled in Northern Iowa, and started another family. I am trying to find out who his father is, for sure- with a name like Wilhelm there are many of them- and I want to substantiate before i Post my findings. I have information that states his father may be Frederich Kuritz/Kurtz.

Orie Tegeler was married to William K. Kuritz first then George Rogge . Theresa Tegeler her sister was married to a William H. Kuritz . William H. living in Minnesota later .

The majority of the kurz families as decended from Heinrich and Isebella Kurz and Ferninand and Rosina Kurz.
ended up in Scribner, Dodge, Nebraska. however a few of there children moved to Missourri at least that's where Alma and Heinrich Kurz lived when my Grandmother was born but, they returned back to Scribnerr I do know that about 11 yrs ago my grandmothers cousin was mayor of Scribner Nebraska. She said that the scribners and Kurz were related somehow. and the family has stayed involved in the local politics.
