I am trying to do my family history from Az and I, and my relatives are from MI. Crissey, my fathers family came from NJ to Ohio to Michigan to Maryland then back to Michigan. My gr-grandfather was George Clark Crissey. He married my gr-grandmother Cinda King in Ohio where they had at least 2, possably 3 of their children. They had the rest of the children in MI. George Crissey appears on the 1894 list of soldiers, sailors and Marines in Livingston Twp.
After returning to MI my father met and Married Cloella Failes d/o Theodore Failes and Laura Slagel. Her Parents were Joseph Slagel and Henrietta Long. I have a lot of information on the Slagel family. I am not doing so well with Theodore Failes and his Family. He is the child of Edward Failes and Margaret Walters. They had several children. Patrick m Christina,William, m.Minnie, Damin, Richard never married was killed, Edward, Ira m. Sadie, Anna Belle m. William, Irene, and Theodore being the youngest born 1870. If any one has information on any of these people I sure would like to hear from you. I will be more than glad to share what information I have. Thanks in advance.

Gary,
Thank you so much for the information, I do think we have been in contact bsfore. This is the the family I am looking for. George and Lucinda, My gr-grandparents were in Otsego co. MI in 1900. I have found them on the 1900 census. I also have found a cemetery record on the internet, but had not sure link between it and my gr grandparents until now. I think we need to keep in touch, If I am correct. Ellit & John Crissey (Amanda's husband) may have been brothers. This information lists all the names I was looking for. The reason I felt earlier the obituary of Lydia Martin, was My gr-grandfather's sister is because of the mention of Nelson Crissey. It also stated her parents were John & Amanda (Arviss) Crissey. She married Martin after Her first husband died. His Last name was Bennett. I will get to you with some more when I have a chance to get it put together.
Once again Thank You, I do believe you have found the link I needed so badly. Laura

Just a point of interest My Dad's Twin Brother was named Charles Arvis Crissey. Also my Aunt told me one of her grandfather's sisters had married a Valentine.

I came across this family the other day while looking for information on my Ellit Crissey family.

According to Sussex County NJ Deed Book Z8, at page 484, as of 1894, the children and heirs of Amanda M. Crissey were Laura, wife of Clarence Valentine of Albany, NY; Lydia, wife of Josiah Bennett of Minisink, Orange Co., NY; Charles A. Crissey (wife was Catherine) of Warwick, Orange Co., NY; Florence A. Crissey of Vernon, Sussex Co., NJ; Edward A. Crissey of Newton, Sussex Co., NJ; and George Crissey (wife was Lucinda) of Vanderbilt, Otsego Co., MI. Also mentioned in the deed, but not clear how related, was Nelson Crissey of Vernon, Sussex Co., NJ.

According to cemetery records I found on the internet, Amanda M. Crissey's maiden name was Arviss. June 13, 1820 - Feb. 25, 1894.

Hope this information is helpful!

Hi Laura, I don't have any information on your family but if you are the Laura Crissey from Sturgis, I have been wondering for years where you were and how you are doing. I last saw Lillian in 1960 and knew that the family had moved to Arizona but had no idea what happened after that. We are having a Girl Guard reunion at Jackie (Harter) Smittendorf's house on the 20th and it got me to thinking about you, Lillian and Anna Mae. I know you don't know me by my married name but I am sure you remember Darlene Mac Pherson. My email is darlenegest@comcast.net. Please let me know if I have the right Laura. It would be great to hear from you

I saw some information about Theodore Failes on ancestry.com but it may be some that you actually posted. It shows that Theodore Failes was born 5-23-1871 in Beaver Bay, MI. and died on 10-29-1936 in Hayes, MI. Shows the marriage date as 6-25-1897

I found an Edward Failes in the 1850 and 1870 census for New York. He was born around 1847. He may be your Edward. His parents were Daniel Failes and Sarah A. Failes. If you can't access the census and want to know who else was on there, let me know.
