My grandfather Charley Cleveland McCracken b. 1885 d. 1965 in Hawkins Co. TN. Charley McC m. Mary Matilda HIcks dau of John James HIcks and Matilda Skelton in Hawkins Co. Tn.
His father John David McCracken b. 1860 d. 1922 in Hawkins Co. Tn. John David McC m. Amanda Barrett in Hawkins Co. Tn. Amanda dau of John Barrett and Catherine Meek.
I believe John David McC was the son of DAVID McCracken. David appears on the 1900 Hawkins Co., TN census as 87 years old. In the marriage books, same Co. he performed marriages until about 1907. Then I found him in Sullivan Co., Tn as Pastor of the Speedwell Church for 2 years. If the census is close to right re: his age in 1900 he would have been b. about 1813 or possibly 1818. He had to pass after 1912'ish. I cannot find his burial place. Given names in my McCracken line are: John, James, Clyde, Ellen, Margaret, Leona, Sadie ['Sudie'], Ann, Mary, Neal, Charley.

My father was Richmond Pearson McCracken. He was born in 1985 to Mary Hicks and John McCracken. They went back and forth between Tennessee and Yancy County, NC. My father had two brothers and his father's family came from Virginia. But his mother's family was from Tennessee. I am his 12th child born in 1953. I would like to share any information.
