I will do lookups for Sussex County, NJ from the book Sussex County New Jersey Marriage and Obituary Dates (1814-1903). If listed in the book, I can provide the following information:

Marriages -the bride and groom's name and the marriage date
Obituary - name, date, age and township (if provided)

Terri,
Can you check for a marriage between Samuel Floyd Van Strander and Catherine J. Winters? I believe it was in 1864.
I would also like to know if there is an obit. for Frances Van Strander believed to have died in March 1866. Heck, if you see ANY Van Strander in that book, I'd love the information!
Thank you so very much & Happy Holidays to you!
Karla

How kind of you to do lookups! I'm trying to find the date of marriage of my G-Grandparents. I'm not sure if they were married in Sussex County or Orange Co., NY. But I'm sure they were from Sussex Co. They are William Burd (Bird) who married Sarah Brooks. I think they may have been married around 1865. William was born in Sparta, NJ in Feb 1836/37. I cannot locate his parents names. I appreciate any help you can give. Perhaps with a date of marriage I could find their marriage license and maybe find some witnesses or parents listed. Thank-you again.

Hi Terry,
I am looking for info on the surname CAMPBELL and CANALES... William Clyne CAMPBELL married Corrinne CANALES... William went by Clyne sometimes and I found a record a while back with Corrinne's name listed as Lorrinne... typo I guess. Her mothers names was Hulda CANALES married to Philands CANALES... second marriage was to a Charles Weber... Any info on any of these names or any possible relatives would be most HELPFUL. My father's family line has been impossible to locate... (Corrinne was his mother)

Thanks So Much In Advanced!

Oh and Wm Clyne's name before he changed it was BRODIE. He changed it to CAMPBELL when he came here from Scotland in 1926??? His residence was listed as England on the passenger list??

Hi Terry,

I know there is a book for Sussex County marriages, is there a book for obits? I have a lot of family from that area and I am interested in quite a few surnames.

What papers are the obits from? I am heading to Trenton next week to look up obits. If there is a book available, that may save me some time. I have an index for the Sussex Register.

Thanks

Jeff

Hi Terri
I am looking for a marriage of Samuel Van Gorder, Van Gorden, Van Garten, in 1847/1848/1849 to a Martha E. ???. First child born 1849 in NJ. They lived most of their lives in Orange Co. NY. Deerpark but her obit says she was a native of New Jersey. So I'm thinking Sussex. Any Vangorder would be of interest to me as well as I can not find his parents. These are my GG Grandparents and I have all info. from then to the present.
Thanking you in advance. Joan in Penn.

The years 1814-1895 are from the Sussex Register. The balance are from the Perlee Collection.

The only William Campbell that I found was a marriage to Margaret Drake 1829-11-30. I didn't find any Canales, Brodie or Weber marriages.

There is a long list of deaths for Campbell - including four Williams. I can scan it in and send it to you but they're all well before when you think that your family immigrated in 1926 - the latest one being 1900.

I did not find any Brodie, Canales or Weber deaths listed.
