Looking for information concerning my great-grandmother Anna Sieders Wenzel who homesteaded 160 acres of land at Section 26, Township 15N, Range 10E in Perkins County, October 11, 1911. She was the widow (of Ben Wenzel) at the time and the mother of two step-daughters and five children of her own. Only one child, her daughter Albertha, was with her at that time. Her address on the patent papers was Wyandotte, Perkins County.
Looking for any information to allow me to reconstruct the family history. She later married a Mr. Willem DeWit and by 1920 had relocated to Sheldon, Iowa. Anna's father's name was probably
Harm Sieders and he may have been born in the Netherlands and came to South Dakota via Illinois

I have done a lot of research on the Sieders-family in Holland. The familytree begins in 1652 with the marriage of Augustus Syder, who came from Bischofswerda in Germany, in Meppel. A lot of his ancestors still live in Holland. Your Harm Sieders who went to the USA was one of them.

Can you please share the info that you have with me? I'm interested in his antecedents as well as his port of departure from Holland for the US, port of arrival in the US and any information concerning his subsequent life in the US such as his migration across the US to the state of South Dakota. I know only that he was the father of Hannah (Anna) Sieders who was the second wife of my ggrandfather.

Thank you for the info. I would be interested in any information on Harm Sieders and his children that you would care to share. This is the first positive response that I have had in more than two years of fairly constant searching. Would you have his burial location and date of death, obit etc by any chance?

I have some information about Harm Sieders, born in Hoogeveen, august 9, 1948. He was a baker by profession and died in Sheldon, Iowa on october4, 1922. He married his second wife, Albertje Schelhaas on februari 9, 1879. They had 8 children, one of them was Annigje (Anna) born in Holland on februari 6, 1882. Died in Rushmore on februari 24 1965. She was married to Wiebe (Will) De Witt and lived in Worthington, Minnesota. Harm Sieders was a son of Willem Sieders, born in Hoogeveen on januari 29, 1815 and died there on october 7, 1896. He was married to Annechien Doorten and they had 6 other children besides Harm. Willem Sieders was one of 8 children of Harm Sieders and Aaltje Willems Vos (second wife). This Harm Sieders was borm in Hoogeveen on august 12, 1768 and he was a smith by profession. His parents were Jannes Alberts Sijders (Sieders) and Vrouke Harms Govers. Besides Harm they had 6 other children. My forefather Johannes was a brother of this forefather of yours. Jannes Alberts Sijders (Sieders) was baptized in Zweeloo on october 23, 1735, the son of Albert (Sijders) Willing and Aaltien Brants. Starting 1766 Jannes lived in Hoogeveen. Jannes was the son of Albert (Martinus) Sijders, born before 1703 in Zweeloo and married before 1723 with Aaltien Brants. He was buried on april 21, 1736 in Zweeloo. Albert (Martinus) Sijders was a son of Martinus Sijder and he in turn was a son of Augustus Sijder, a german soldier who settled in Zweeloo after the end of the 80-year war (1648) The father of Augustus Sijder was possibly Martin Sieders from Bisschofswerda, Germany. You can email me if you need any more information.

I don't know if anyone is still reading this thread but Anna Sieders was born in Illinois, according to all the US census records. Her parents, Harm Sieders and Albertje Schelhaas arrived in the US Dec 19, 1881 and she was born in Feb 1882. Her name does not appear with her parents and siblings Willem and Niesienn(Nancy) on the immigration records. I have posted quite a bit of information on this branch of the Sieders family. Most of it comes from my grandmother(Johanna Heil)'s records. Her mother was Katherine Sieders, one of Anna's younger sisters.
