Mary Cunningham married Benjamin Osbourne in the 1820's - 30's. Lore has it that she was from Lawn and was a widow with four children. Benjamin hired her as a housekeeper and they eventually married. I would like to know Mary's maiden name and other info available. I have info on the family she had with Benjamin.

Does your Mary have 2 sisters, Olive Marie Cunningham born October 22, 1895 and Edna Cunningham? I know that Enda married Bernard Forsey, and after she died, her sister Olive came to Grand Bank to look after the babies and ended up marrying him too. We have not had any luck of finding anything on them, so if you could help, we would really appreciate it.

Bernard Forsey was born in Woody Point, Kings Cove, Bonavista Bay, NFLD, but later moved to Grand Bank. There is a good possibility that your family, from Lawn, included part of mine.

Kind regards,
Annie

Thanks for replying to my enquiry. However, I don't think our Mary's are related. Mary married Benjamin in the 1820's - 1830's. She is supposed to have been a widow with four children, so maybe your branch is from her children. If I find out anything I will let you know.

Hi Annie, Would any of the Cunninghams on our list tie into those from Placentia Sound around mid-1800s? My Great Grandmother was Mary Cunningham (b1875) from Placentia sound, whose father,we believe, was Edward (b1823).

Annie,
Placentia SOund is near Argentia (FOrmer USN base). It other words it is a few miles from Placentia on the eastern side of Placentia Bay.
ANyhow my short list shows JOhn (b1868), Mary, Ellen (b1878) and Edward (dob unknown). Might be a different branch.
My great Grand mother Mary married William Hilliard and lived in Placentia.

Thanks for replying to my request. Where was your great grandmother born? She may be one of Mary's great grandchildren. I may have more info on Mary and if I can get it confirmed I will forward it to you. I noticed that you are also working on the Healey family. Do you have a listing for Ambrose Healey?

Madeline,
It would appear I am from the same Cunningham stock of Placentia Sound.
My G.grandmother was Mary Cunningham, married William Hilliard.
Her siblings were John, Ellen, Edward (ned) and Michael.
However, I have slightly different birth dates for each, but that is not unusual.
Like to hear more of what you have,
Cheers
Steve
