Can any body local to the Canadian Legion in Leduc please help me? I have seen a report of the death from there of Arthur Thrush from a few years ago and I need to find out if he is the one I have been searching for. Is there any kind person out there who could check for me if he was married to a lady called Doris nee Town ( my great aunt) and had at least one son called Michael. It would be most helpful as they have not been heard of since moving to Canada in1945
Thanks Lesley

The Master Surname Index of over 800.000 names (not online) (mostly burials in Alberta cemeteries) of the Alberta Genealogical Society lists only this one Thrush name;

Arthur Walter Charles THRUSH, 1919 - 19 Feb 1996 (H41758 Royal Wpg Rifles) buried in the Leduc Cemetery.

Next door to the AGS Library is the Edmonton City Archives, they hold all copies pf the Edmonton Journal, so I had a look. This is what I found in the obituary.
"On February 19, 1996 Arthur Walter Charles Thrush on Leduc, passed away at the age of 76 years at the Leduc Genearl Hospital. he was born on May 31, 1919 at Cambridge, Wales. He is survived by his loving wife Doris, son, Brian (joyce) of Sylvan Lake; daughter, Shirley (Robert) of St. Walburg, Saskatchewan; six grandchildren. Arthur, Mark, Tracy-Lynn, Avaline, Jay, Jody; ten great-grandchildren; two brothes. Glen of Fort St. John, B.C., Benny of Winnipeg, Manitoba; four sistes Mary, Lois, Kathleen all of Livey, Ontario and Pearl of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his mother, father and five brothers. Hainstock & Son Funeral Chapel, Leduc "

Hi Lesley, Arthur Thrush's daughter, Shirley, lives near me. Her daughter, Tracey-Lynn is married to my nephew. I can put you in contact if all are in agreement. For my curiousity, where do you fit? I volunteer on the boards and was really amazed to read something of my own families interest. Butch

Hi Butch
Arthur's wife Doris is my Grandads sister on my mums side.
I have been trying to do a family tree and was told that they married and went to Canada in the 1940s, but, nobody knew what happened to them after that. I would be very interested in their history after moving to Canada and if they have any photographs.
Thank you for taking the time to answer me.
Regards Lesley

Hi Lesley, Have been waiting to hear from you. My son recalled Mr. Thrush's funeral and all are curious about your connection to his family. I won't post information about the family without their permission and they are only here on weekends. They are also in the middle of renovations so haven't much free time, but hopefully things will get back to normal soon. Butch

Hi
I've just come across your message re Shirley Thrush. I would love to get in touch with Shirley if that's possible. I'm Shirley's first cousin by my father George Town and her mother Doris. We almost certainly met as children but I doubt she would remember me. We heard little of Doris after she moved to Canada and I would love to catch up with her family. To whet Shirley's appetite I have a great deal of information on her mother's ancestors which I would be happy to share with her.
Kind regards .... Bryn Town
