Searching ancestors of Frantisek (Frank) Vasek son of Rose Vasek, father unknown. He has his grandfather's name.Rose was not married.According to the 1900 census in Fayette County, Texas she came to America with her son in 1882.She later married Josef Bartoš in Texas about 1890.At the time of the census she and Josef were living with her son Frank and his wife Hermina Konecny who had been married in 1899 in Fayette County,Texas. At this time they were living in Ammannsville. Frank and Hermina had many children,my grandmother Frantisek (Frances Rose)Vasek was one.She never knew anything about Franks father,it was not talked about in the family but she had always wanted to know.Have no idea where they came from but the census shows Bohemia and my grandmother said Bohemia or Moravia.Would like to know more about Frank and Rose's family if possible.I know it is probably like looking for Smith or Brown in America but I am hoping someone might have an ancestor that "went to America" unmarried and with a son and maybe wondered what happened to them.Frank was born June 1879 and Hermina was born September 1878.Rose in February 1852.
I am also searching the Konecny name.Mary Konecny was Vinzenz Konecny's wife.I don't know her maiden name. She and Vinzenz also lived in Fayette County, Texas. They had a farm there and property the county said was worth $3400.00 when Vinzenz died (a lot of money in 1918!).In the 1900 census Vinzenz was apparently not living with his wife. She is listed as head of household and living with her son Karel (Charles) and daughter Julko (Julie). I haven't found out yet where her husband was. The census says she had been married 30yrs and was 51 yrs old.She came to America in 1887 from Bohemia so she and Vinzenz were married and their children were born there. She had 13 children,6 were living at the time of the census in 1900. She was born in Zari (June or Sept?) 1844 or 1848,Vinzenz was born in Brezen (March?) 1839.Would like to know her maiden name and actual date of birth.Any infor appreciated.Maybe the family who stayed in Europe would like to know what became of the brothers and sisters who went to America.Mary died in 1914 and Vinzenz died in 1918,both in Fayette County, Texas.

On the gravestone for Konecny, there are three buried together. The stone is a tall obelisk type.At the base is KONECNY. AT the top of one side is OTEK and reading down is Vincenc, nar 27 Brez 1839,zem 20 Ûnora 1918.Lower down on this same side is DCERA,Aloisie, nar 25 Brez 1870, zem 4 Srp 1899.One the next side is MATKA, Marie, nar 2 Zarí 1844, ve Vilkovîc na Moravé, zem 26 Srp 1914, dej jim o Pâne!They are buried side by side with bricks placed in a row between each. The entire plot is surrounded by a concrete curb. The cemetery is well taken care of as the church nearby is still active and there are many people still living in the area. The cemetery is located at Dubina, Fayette County, Texas.I can guess at the translations but it would be nice if I knew for certain what the correct translation is.

Otek is probably a regional variation on Otec, father.
Father, Vincent, b. 27 Mar 1839, d. 20 February 1918. Daughter, Aloise, b. 25 Mar 1870, d. 4 Aug 1899 Mother, Marie, b. 2 Sep 1844, at Vilkovic in Moravia, d. 26 Aug 1914.
dej jim o Pane refers to the Lord. Perhaps something like give them unto the Lord?
The important thing is, you have a village name. Vilkovic. Unfortunately, it is not in a current map! Either it was incorporated into a larger town, but usually those names stay on the map. Alternatively, Vilkovic could be an older variant of the contemporary name. I tried entering it in Actapublica, but did not get anything close.
I almost forgot -- the reason I replied is that my husband's great grandmother's sister was married to a Konecny in Dolni Loucky in Moravia. (I am leaving the diacritical marks off as they don't seem to be coming through correctly. Accent on the i in Dolni, hacek over the c in Loucky.) His name was Josef. I do see the name Konecny every so often in Actapublica.
