Just starting on my genealogy search for my father's side of the family. I seem to be getting nowhere. My grandfather's name is Joseph Vincent Remis born 1916. He shortened his name and lived in the Nassau area of NY. From what I understand we are polish, but I have no documentation except that both grandparents speak Polish. My g grandfather was Vincent Remisiewicz (1892-1977) also from Nassau, NY. I do not know if he was born there. I am awaiting SSDI information. I understand he started or owned Remis Monuments Co. If you know any information, I would be deeply appreciative. Thank you.

My name is Gina Remisiewicz and I live in Tampa, FL. I know that my grandfathers, Victor Remisiewicz, family was from Poland. My family is spread out all over the United States. I am sure that we are somehow related, because Remisiewicz is not a common name. I do know that several family members shortened their name to Remis and Remsen. My grandparents went by Remsen for a long time, as did my grandfathers brother Stanley. Let me know what you find out.
Sincerely, Gina Remisiewicz

My fathers fater was Alexander Remisiewicz. a brother of Vincent. came to this country from Poland. Some stayed in New York and some went to Michigan. My father passed away in 1996. His older brother Stanley is still alive. He is in e Hollywood Fl area in nursing home. I met Vincent over 30 years ago. If I remeber corrrectly he dicorced his with or was widowed and remarried. Over ten years ago I was speaking at a local Catholic church trying to traise funds for a local charity and when I finished speaking a retired Italian man from New York told me that he knew my uncle Stanley and that they had both worked in the monument business for Vincent. My grandfather died about 1957. My father and his family was estraged from him for many years. My grand mother went by the name of Ana Remisiewicz her Polish name was Longina. They had five children listed chronologically Stanley, Marion, Jean, Victor (my father and Helen. Helen's son Dennis Swenkowski lives in Southhold, LI, NY. I live in Florida. Jean had a daughter who lives near Atlanta and Marions daughter Alexa lives in Miami

My name is also Remisiewicz. My father Gustav Henryk Remisiewicz was born in 1925 and was in the Polish army in the 2nd WW. He stayed in England (Yorkshire) when the war ended. Dad's parents divorced (scandal for Catholics) and he lived with his grandmother on her farm until war broke out. His father was Jan and his mother was Maria (d 1952). Jan Remisiewicz remarried and has three children from that marriage - Henryk, Marek and Elizabeth - all still living in Poland. We are in contact with Marek and Elizabeth but not Henryk. My parents also shortened their name to Remy. As we share an unusual Polish name, I wonder if we have any connection?

I do not know how much this will help, but Obviously, I am a Remisiewicz as well. My Father is Edmund Remisiewicz. He has 2 brothers and a sister. His parents were John and Helen Remisiewicz. Stanley and Emily Remisiewicz were John's Brother, my Great Aunt and Uncle. I also know that John Remisiewicz came to the US as a boy. He lived in New York for a little bit before moving to Michigan.
Just happen to come across this information on a google search. I hope that this helps!

My grandfather was Joseph Remisiewicz, your grandfathers brother. There were two other brothers. One was Vincent. I don't remember the others name. All four brothers worked as stone masons and brick layers. My grandfather had four sons. My father,John, was the only one with children. I,Jerome, am the youngest of those. My sister never had children, and while my brothers had children, they never had grandchildren. I have four sons, two daughters and twelve grandchildren. We use the name Remick. Vincent Remisiewicz had two daughters. one deceased with no children. Lost track of the one with kids.
