Searching for the parents of Pheba Bedingfield. Pheba married David Arthur Mullinax. David was born in Zirconia, Henderson County, N. C, son of John Alexander Mullinax and Elizabeth "Becky" Bane. Pheba and David lived at Dunean in Greenville, S. C, where David worked at Dunean Mill until his retirement. Pheba died in September 1968 and David died in March 1978. Both are buried at the Pace Family Cemetery, in Henderson County, N. C. Thanks for any information.

Carol,
I have narrowed down that she was the grand daughter of George Washington Beddingfield (Bedingfield) and Abigail "Alzie" M. Hart. Her brother was John Asey Bedingfield who died in Greenwood, SC and married Mamie Pace. Both Pheba and Asey were born in TN.

Both Pheba and Asey Bedingfield were living were their cousin in the 1900 Census:
1900 Census: Green River, Henderson Co, NC
Furman P Pace, head, m, w, Mar 1878, 22, married 3 yrs, born NC, father born NC, mother born NC, farm laborer
Emma J Pace, wife, f, w, Aug 1873, 26, married 3 yrs, 0 children, born NC, father born NC, mother born NC
Asia Bedingfield, cousin, m, w, Mar 1888, 12, born TN, father born NC, mother born NC, farm laborer
Pheba Bedingfield, cousin, f, w, Sep 1889, 10, born TN, father born NC, mother born NC, farm laborer

Emma Jane Bedingfield was the daughter of Ephriam "Decatur" Beddingfield and Sara Elizabeth Bane.

Let me know if you can Id her parents.

Hi Ricky, been idle on research for awhile, sickness in family.

Sarah Elizabeth Bane was the daughter of Alexander Bane and Sarah E. Bishop. I'm from Alexander and Sarah's line.

Or do you want Pheba's parents? Let me know and will see what I have.

Thanks for the info on John Asey Bedingfield.

What Pace line are you from?

I was looking for the parents of Pheba Beddingfield (Bedingfield).

I descend from Burrell Pace and Lydia Woodruff of Polk/Henderson Co, NC through their son Cornelius Pace.

I don't have the name of her parents. I thought her parents would be listed in her obit, but it did not list them. Sorry I can't help you, wish we both could find out who her parents were. Guess we'll have to keep searching.

I think her parents are John Devine Beddingfield and Mary Bayne. In the 1900 Census: Green River, Henderson NC - Pheba and Asia were listed in the household of Furman P. Pace as cousins. I can only assume they are brother and sister but no proof.

In my records John "Acey" Bedingfield is listed as son of John Devine Beddingfield and Mary Bayne. Acey died in Greenwood, SC in Jul 1971. I do not have access to his obit or death certificate but they would probably help. Until then all this is only speculation.

I was assuming Pheba and Asia were brother and sister also. I don't remember Pheba's obit mention having a surviving brother. Her marker at the Pace Cemetery is marked wrong as she died in September and not October. When I searched the October paper never found it listed, then searched the September Greenville, South Carolina Newspaper it was listed. At Greenville County Library they now have the obituaries indexed, so don't have to search through newspapers. Maybe some day we'll find out who her parents were.

Here is her Social Security record.
