My father in law, Dr. Santiago Bernardino, had a half-sister, named Mary Monteagudo, older than him, probably born around 1995 in Matanzas. She never married. Their mother was Crescencia Navarro y Silva, from Matanzas.

She was first married to ?. Monteagudo. Crescencia's second husband was Santiago Bernardino y Esteban, from Madrid. The couple died together in an accident.

I wonder if this Mary Monteagudo could be related to the Monteagudo's that have been discussed lately on the forum. Thank you! Toni

Well, it would be a question of digging up some records and finding people who knew the family. I don't know the names of the general's parents but i think he was born at Placetas.
Looking at the Diccionario Biografico Remediano and at Hilda Pomares' pages i see there were quite a few Monteagudos at or near Remedios, back in the 1700s. There may have a few lines in the XIX century.
