Some church records from the Catholic parish in Larksarska Nova Ves recently became available through the LDS, but when I ordered them I discovered that for the most part, they were indexes only. Helpful, but the actual records would be much more so. Soes anyone know if the actual parish records are still in existence, and might be available in the future? Also, since the indexed records seem to date back to the late 1700's, was the village part of a different parish prior to that, where the records may go back a few additional years? Thanks for the info!

Re: Church records from Laksarska Nova Ves
You didn't say which film(s) you have looked at; #2401433, #2401434, and #2401435 are all listed as containing records from L.N.V.
I suspect that no records from the parish prior to the early 1700s survive. To be sure, you would have to check the inventory of the appropriae regional archive. There is a book available on a set of microfiche through the Mormon FHL that provides that inventory.

Re: Church records from Laksarska Nova Ves
Thanks for the info--the last time I looked on the LDS website (which was only a couple months ago), the only films listed were 2402174 and 2402175. Looks like I have a few more films to order!

From the main page, scroll down and choose "Europe", then "Slovakia", and then click on "Slovakia Church Books: 1592-1910". Click on "Browse through 569,421 images", then click on "Roman Catholic" and then "Senica" and finally click on "Laksarska Nova Ves".
I just returned from Laksarska Nova Ves last month and had an amazing experience. I met with the local village priest. His name is Father Ladislav Labo. He is very nice and is working on his own genealogy project. He was very willing to help. He has the original church registry books in his parish office. I was lucky enough to be able to search through them. In addition, he was also very responsive to my letter requesting family baptism information before my journey. I have his personal email address, but I will not post it here. If you would like to contact him, please let me know and I will send you his information.
I too have Pikalek and Radocha ancestors from Laksarska, as well as many others including Adamec, Gach, Klempa, and Klamik. My tree on ancestry.com is not updated yet, but my personal family tree goes back to about 1632, from this village. If you are interested in comparing notes, please contact me.

Re: Church records from Laksarska Nova Ves
Tom,
My foster brothers are Sisolak and I am the genealogist in the family and I recently found the Naturalization Papers for their Great grandfather - George Sislak. George was born in Nova Ves, April 10, 1867, married to Elizabeth Zisko and came to country (Baltimore, MD) as early as 1886 (according to the census).
As per this thread, Today I found the Catholic church records for Laksarska Nova Ves, THANK YOU.
Has anyone created a list of Sisolak names from these Church records?
Glenn Peddicord for my foster brothers

Re: Church records from Laksarska Nova Ves
Congratulations! Paging through those records is amazing. Gives you a sense of the terrible struggles some of our ancestors went through before they came here, and the resilience of those who stayed in the homeland in the face of war, poverty and disease is awe-inspitring. We come from survivors. There IS a birth, marriage and death index for the parish, although I don't think the LDS has gotten all of it on to the website yet--I think a lot of it is still only on microfilm. Goes back to the 1820's, I believe--so some of that Sisolak compilation is already done and all you will have to do is copy it down in some kind of organized fashion. I'll have my hands full with the Pikaleks and a few others, so you're on your own!

I read your email with interest about researching your Laksarska Nova Ves heritage. I too am doing the same, regarding the same village.Last summer I travelled there and fortunately the iron gates were open to the church property but unfortunately the building was locked. It was early Sunday morning, pouring rain and we knew no one. It was too early to knock on a resident's door to find out information. Without having an interpreter too it was awkward.I did not have an opportunity to return. I would appreciate having the priest's email address and/or mailing address so I can research further. Many thanks, Kathy
