Hello,

A man called Pierre Snow, in French Polynesia, is trying to tace his family who, like him, are descendents of an Englishman called Daniel Snow. He lives on a remote island and does not have access to the internet. If you'd like to get in touch with him, please give me your postal address and I'll pass it on to him. Thank you.

HI Helen, many years later...... lol.. I believe William, Snow will be my great great grandfather. My own father is Daniel Snow whose parents were Tahitian, his older siblings were born and raised in Tahiti but my father was born on Pennryhn (sic) Island, the northern most island of the Cook Group and ultimately moved and grew up on Rarotonga, the main island of the Cooks. My father birth date was not confirmed but it would have been somewhere between 1910-1915, no birth records were kept. The reason I believe William to be a direct line is because I'm staring at his photo right now on which someone has written William Snow born at Faite or Faife Nov 1863, eldest sone of Daniel Snow of England. Slight variance in the birth year to that you have but possibly someone had misread a 5 for a 3 or the other way round.

Anyway, my name here and in real life is Vaarua Turner (nee Snow). My father, Daniel, came to New Zealand as a very young man, I think probably in his late teens, married my mother and sadly, never returned to Rarotonga. I am the 4th child of 8, five boys, 3 girls. When my father died, he was cremated and his remains were taken back to Rarotonga and buried with his parents, I have only been to Rarotonga once as a young woman specifically to and see exactly where my fathers remains lie and the place he grew up in. I am now 65.

So.. I know this response is many years later to your post and I really dont know if you even check anything here any longer but just case, it seems we may well share a link in William, the eldest son of Daniel. FYI my eldest brother is named Daniel Moorea Snow, the next was Raiatea Snow, my older sister Aloha and myself Vaarua.. I think my parents ran out of bright ideas for naming the 4 youngest as they have names that dont appear to have any connection to Pacifica in general. Cheers :) Vaarua
