My name is Valerie Clayton. I am looking for information about the family names of "Sobers," "Braithwaite," "Miller," and "Hunte."

My paternal grandfather, Dudley Sobers, was born in Christ Church, Barbados in 1894. He is the fourth child (the only boy) born to his father (first name unknown--last name is Sobers) who married a woman whose last name was Miller. His sisters' names are Viola, Irene, Florence and Octavia. He married Miller after the death of his first wife(name unknown) by whom he had at least 3 children (also unknown).

My paternal grandmother married Dudley Sobers in the early 1920's in New York. Her name was Christina Hunte, born in St. Philips, Barbados. Her father's name was Clarence Hunte who married Florence Braithwaite. They had seven children including my grandmother: Stella, Hilton, Cyril, Daphne, Cassie, Christina, and Reynolds.

Any help or information offered would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Mary Ann Hunte who married Christopher Moe Brathwaite, born 18 Dec 1800, died 2 Sep 1877. I also have a large amount of information on the Barbados Brathwaites (as they were almost invariably spelled) from St Philip's parish. I should be happy to exchange details if desired.

Do you have any information on Eileen Brathwaite, who married the Reverend Benjamin Byer (Methodist) born in Sweet Bottom St. George's, Barbados.

My grandfather is Mortimer Hunte from St. Phillip born Nov 23 1904. His father was John Hunte and he was married to Martha Daisley. If we are related, I can provide most of the decendants of John Hunte.

My grand-mother Eileen Hyacinth Brathwaite married Everton Rudolph Harvey. Would like info. on Brathwiates if related.

Please Can I have some info on the above names from St Philip Barbados. I would like info from 1850's if possible.

Can you be more specific? There are so many Masons and Alleyne's in Barbados. I am also researching those names. KATE

My great grandmothers maiden name was Louise Lavinia Sobers and she married Thomas Thorne Braithwaite. I believe Louise was born around the year 1984. There has been two ways I have seen this name, as you may know. One way is"Brathwaite or Braithwaite". My great grandparents were born in Christ Church, Barbados. I believe someone may have mentioned that Louises mothers name may have been Viola.

I'm trying to find my paternal grandmother's family. Her name was Marie Braithwaite Issac. I understand that she was originally from Barbados and moved to St. Croix, V. I. She was born on March 13, 1889 but died around the 60's. She had two children and married an Issac.
