Hi,
My Great great Grandfather was Jose Maria Tresierra. What we've heard is he was from Spain originally but came to Canada from Mexico. There is a story that he had a brother who went to South America. Does anyone know anything that might relate to him? Also Tresierra means 'three hills'? Is is a Spanish place name? Would be happy to share what happened with the Tresierra Canadian line.
Scott (scionu@yahoo.ca).

Hi, I am looking for info on my great grandparents (x3) who are Joseph Maria Tresierra and Josephine Tresierra (maiden unknown). I have been told he comes from mexico but i have also been told he comes from Spain. I wonder if he is "Jose" and changed his name to Joseph when he came to Canada. I have much information of his children but am seeking info on his parents.
Thanks

Hi Les,

Probably you know some of this. Jose Maria Tresierra is Joseph Tresierra who was with Josephine Tresierra. Josephine is said to be from the Nuu Chah Nulth. She was born at Nootka Sound. Jose Maria left Badajoz, Spain with his brothers. He ended up in Central America for a time before sailing to Nootka sound where he worked as a trader for awhile before getting together with Josephine and heading into the interior, specifically around Clinton. They are buried in the old Clinton cemetary aka Boot Hill. They had four children I believe, Pablo, Amelia, Bartholemy, Alfonso and maybe more then that.

It is said that Jose Maria's mother was named Angeline or Angela and she was Portuguese. His father was also name Jose.

I have the address of a contact in California, William Isnardy, if you are interested.

Which line are you from, do you live in B.C.?

Hi Davoren?

I don't have William's address with me today, but will try to remember to bring it with me the next time.

Can you tell me a bit about yourself and your connexion to the Isnardy/Tresierra line? Are you British Columbian? And from which line are you descended?

Pablo Tresierra (Jose Maria's son) and Hortense Isnardy are my Great grandparents. Their daughter, Agnes Tresierra, was my Grandmother.

I'm not sure if you're interested in the Isnardy line or not but I have a French contact, Luc, who has the genealogy to the 1600s.

Hi Scott, I am trying to get some history on Jose Maria Tresierra's daughter Angeline. Angeline apparently married a John "Shady" Miller, son of John Millar and Julia Napoyet who was from Port Hardy. They were married in 1879 in Lillooet. I am trying to get some information on their children. Do you know anything about the Miller side?

Hello Clolle,

Angella is my great great grandma. She had a daughter Maggie (Margaret-my great), sons Albert, Gavin, daughters Sadie, Bella. Maggie had 12 kids one of which was my Grandpa Henry Haller. My mom Peggy has a lot of info on the millers and Tressierra's. You can post her from this thread. I'd write more but my keyboard is on the fritz.

merry xmas

Thanks for your reply Dayna. I am not sure what you ment by posting your Mom from this thread as I am new to this. I would really appreciate any info and help. The info that I have managed to gather thus far was only 6 children of Angeline Tresierra and John "Shady" Miller. I have Gavin, Albert, Daisy, Ethel and then 2 others, who are deceased, with no names. What I am trying to determine is if the gg grandsons are eligible for status. I haven't been able to find any information on John Miller's parents, especially Julia Napoyet as I believe she was from a Port Hardy area band. John Miller (Sr) and Julia Napoyet were married in Lillooett.

Merry Xmas, and Happy New year to you too!
Carolle

Surnames: Tresierra, Isnardy
Hi there! I just stumbled upon this message board when i did a google search for "Tresierra" as my grandmother's maiden name on my Dad's side was Daisy Tresierra. I have also heard my Dad mention the name Isnardy. I am very interested in tracing back my roots and would love to talk to you more about it. It appears we may be related, perhaps cousins?!?

Mike Puhallo from Canada wrote a poem called Jose' Tresierra and I have written some music to the poem. P. Garry Eller is collecting songs for a project(bonafideidaho.org). The project will include songs that have historical value and that deal with the people and places in Idaho. The poem Jose' Tresierra talks about wintering the cattle herds on the bunchgrass along the Snake River and also talks about the Nez Perce tribe. You can hear the song on the soundclick site the site address is www.soundclick.com/bodie . I would like to get pictures to make a video of the song. Can anyone help?
