I am getting back to my family history research after a long absence. I would like to continue assembling a family tree for APPS.

Trying at this stage to connect these individuals with ancestors/descendants:

David Page, who married Beatrice APPS. She was born in 1894 in Maclean, New South Wales, Australia.

If anyone would like to exchange PAGE information with me they would be very welcome. Information regarding any family trees bearing this surname would be very helpful to my research as I hope to eventually find connecting ancestors to all individuals bearing this same name worldwide. I would be more than willing to send what information I have by Gedcom, or any other agreed method, to any interested parties. I run Legacy 6 as a family history programme on my computer.

Thanks!

I have Beatrice in my tree. She was the daughter of Edwin Apps and Blanche Ada Paine. The family originates in Eastern Sussex. Ask if you need more details.

I was interested in the reply from Clive Killick. Although our Apps branches are probably not directly connected I have traced my Apps line back to the Kent-E.Sussex borders in particular to Tunbridge Wells in the mid 1700's. I am currently looking for a marriage between James Apps and Eleanor in approx 1758. Can anybody help? In the meantime I have gathered a lot of data on various Apps branches in Kent and E.Sussex and would be interested in comparing notes with others researching Apps's from this area. Does anyone know of an Apps one-name society?

I started a reply and the lost the draft!

I believe your Henry Apps is Henry Arthur A Apps, born Brighton, Sussex in 1890 (Q3 2b 233).

The only child I can find for an Apps/Verrall marriage is Iris C G Apps, born Brighton 1914 (Q4 2b 345).

From the 1901 Census the family of Henry AA Apps appears to be:

Robert ... Apps, age 36, born Leighton Buzzard, BDF, a Cabman
Agness Apps, age 33, born Brighton, SSX
Henry A A Apps, age 11, born Brighton, a Scholar
William C Apps, age 3, born Brighton, a Scholar
Robert T Apps, age 1, born Brighton, a Juvenile

In the 1881 census there was an Apps family at 7 Claremont Place, Brighton

Henry Apps, age 51, a Pipe Maker, born Rye, SSX
Elizabeth Apps, age 52, his Wife, born Hastings, SSX
Mary J. APPS, a Daughter, age 21, a Laundress, born Weighton (sic) Buzzard, BDF
Robert Apps, a Son, age 16, a Grocers Assistant, born Leighton Buzzard
James Apps, a Son, age 11, a Scholar, born Brighton,

The 1851 census has

Henry Apps, age 21, a Pipe Maker, born Rye, SSX
Elizabeth Apps, age 22, his Wife, born Hastings, SSX
Henry James Apps, a son, born c. September 1850, in Rye

There is a marriage of a Henry Apps in the Rye reg’n area in 1849. Henry’s spouse was either Elizabeth Edwards Phillips or Naomi Clarke or Mary Jane Bennett. This information was gleaned from FreeBMD.

My Apps forebears in the 19th century were in Brede, a village about 8 miles west from Rye. I have linked the above family to mine, yet!!

One point, my Killick relations ran the Pipemaker’s Arms pub in Rye for many years!

Hope this is of use.

In my reply I said "I have linked the above family to mine, yet!!"

It should have said "I have not linked the above family to mine, yet!!"

Sorry for any confusion.

Hi,

I dont have your beatrice Apps in my tree data at present.

I know of several Apps families that migrated to NSW, Australia in the early 1800's.

Do you know which one Beatrice Apps was from.
Do you have an idea of who her parents were, I might be able to help.

regards
William Apps

Hi Clive,

My ancestors are from Brede, Sussex, England as well.

I am sure we would have a connection.

William
