FOSSIL -- A memorial service for Elmer Joseph "
Buster"
Dyer will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at
Glover Memorial
Hall in Fossil.
Mr. Dyer, 91, of Fossil, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at Good Samaritan Center in
Hermiston. Disposition was by cremation.
He was born Aug. 22, 1912, at
Pendleton, to Elmer "
Bud" and Barbara
Greiner Dyer.
As a young man he herded sheep in the
Wheeler County area and later, he and his brother, Jack, joined the
Navy serving during World War II. They spent the next several years at various ports until their discharges.
After his military service, Mr. Dyer went to work for a wire fencing company from which he retired. After his retirement, he moved to Blue River and several years later moved to
Haven House in Fossil where he had been a resident the past two years.
He enjoyed the mountains and his dog.
Survivors include brothers, Clarence "Bob"
Dyer of Oakridge and John "Jack"
Dyer of Sacramento,
Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, by sisters,
Ada McLain and Roberta
Evans, by brother, Bernard, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to
Haven House in Fossil.
Burns Mortuary of
Hermiston is in charge of arrangements.
