I've seen my ancestress in online trees with the surname "Garnier", but it is "Garnierin" on documents. I'm wondering if this is a German feminine ending. Can someone enlighten me?
Thanks,

yes, was a feminine ending used often also on documents.
In Germany and Austria at country-side still in use sometimes. but only orally! never on documents.
