My ancestors Thomas and Harriett Chaplin had their son Frederick James Chaplin baptised in Gibraltar in 1852, while Thomas was serving as a private in the Royal Engineers. FJ Chaplin later returned to Britain, but I've not been able to trace Thomas or Harriett either before or after 1852. Keen to know where they came from and whether they stayed in Gibraltar or moved on.

My GGGM Matilda Chaplin was born a British Subject in Gibraltar in 1791. She was married in the Kings Chapel to Thomas Bristow Miller in 1813 (see Miller Family Tree).
Unfortunately no other knowledge of her Chaplin family.
