Allen Pendergraft's book lists a Sarah A, b. 1872?, daughter of Thomas Jasper and Margaret Ann Spurlock. If you think this could be your Sarah, I do have additional info about siblings, grandparents, etc. Good luck, Betty (I couldn't find Wasburn, MO, but if it is in McDonald County, then this could very well be your Sarah.)

To Betty King
Have seen your answers on the message board several times. I am working on the Pendergraft family. My Mother was a Pendergraft born in Barry County, MO.
I have found a Quiner A. PENDERGRAFT in the Marriage Records for Barry County Missouri. He married Missouri WESTON on 20 Dec 1888 by G.W.EdensJP. Can you tell me who he is. Is his name mis-spelled or is it a nickname. Who are his Parents.
He is listed with My Great Grandparents James P. and Lorina GILLILAND Pendergraft
Married on Sept 26 1888.
Hoping you can help me.
Washburn Mo is in Barry County, Missouri
The Sarah is proably the Daughter of William P and Elender ROLLER Pendergraft of Washburn, Barry, Missouri Ssarah born 2 Feb 1858 and Married Carter SHELTON on 14 Sept 1879 Barry County MO>

In Allen Pendergraft's book, a Missouri A. Weston is listed in the index, but on page 37, where a Mary "Polly" Pendergraft b. June 16, 1852, Barry Co. MO marrried Andrew J.Weston on Dec. 3, 1871, lists only children named Oscar, Delia, and Dillard. A Mary and Missouri are not listed, but I think this is a typographical error (an omission, probably.) I don't think she would be listed in the index otherwise. I do find a Quincy A. Pendergraft born in 1869 in MO and dying in 1913, but the book lists his wife as Ann Dunaway. Perhaps he married twice. Have you looked in the 1880 Barry Co., MO, census to see if you can find any of them. If you think that this Quincy is the one you are looking for, let me know as I have additional info on him. Good luck. Betty Pendergraft King

Ruby, After looking more closely at the book, it shows Quincy A. married on December 20, 1888, to Ann Hathaway. This, too, could have been a typographical error. If you think this is your "Quiner", the book shows him as the seventh child of Jesse W. I have additional info, but will wait to hear from you. Betty

Pendergraft connection

Quincy Allen Pendergraft was my great-grandfather...He was marrried to Missouri Ann Dunaway. They were both from Barry Co. Missouri and were in fact distant relatives. They had at least three children. Arthur, Dessie, Walter and Willie Douglas. Unknown if Walter and Willie are the same or different sons. Some records show Walter as being born in 1895-1897. Don't know if he died at age 2 or if he was born sometime during this time frame. Am trying to verify when my grandfather was born but am having problems since he died in the early 1930"s and no one is left in the family that remembers.

We must be related in some way..I think Missouri Ann Dunaway was married first to a Mr. Weston, had no children of that marriage and later married Quincey Allen. My mother was born in Seligman MO and I remember her talking about relatives who were named Roller. I understand there was a lot of marriages between the Rollers and Pendergraft. Also see my other response.

We are probably related from Job (my great-great-great grandfather was his son, Thomas.) Have you looked in the 1900 Missouri Soundex? It should have your grandfather's birth year, if not his birthdate. Have you tried the Censuslinks.com, Arkansas, Benton County cemetery records? They include the Roller cemetery in McDonald County, Missouri, where many Pendergrafts are buried. I may also have a hardcopy of the Seligman cemetery. If that will help, I will look for it. Good luck. Betty

Was your great great great grandfather Thomas Jasper Pendergraft? That was my great great grandfathers name. My great grandfather was Hosea Pendergraft. He married Lillian Candice Ellis in McDonald Co. MO
