I am looking for any info on Abijah Reed 1770-1842. He is on the Ithaca census in 1830, his grown sons & their families are also on the census, they are Romeo Reed and John A. Reed.I am at a total dead end so any help would be very appreciated.

Deb: Not to answer your question, but Elizabeth is in my Wortman line. From the information I have I think Elizbeth and Abijah may also have had Andrew b: 18 Sept 1875, Herman Camp b: 12 Sept 1812, Benton b: abt 1805, and Jacob b: abt 1815.

The information that had been forwarded to me said that Abijah Reed is listed in the 1810 Ulysses Seneca County census, and on the Ithaca census 1825.

Thanks Mary,I did already have the info on their children but not the 1810 census...I will check that out.

Can you tell me anything about Eliz Wortman line? I have her father as William born in NJ and died in NY and her mother as Mary C. Gordan born in _______ and died in Tompkins Co., NY but nothing before that? Do you have his father's name?

Deb: I don't, but have sent out two emails to folks who might have that information. I received much of my Wortman family information from Barry Dutcher who has done a lot with this family. But the file he sent to me in 2002 started with William and Mary C. Gordon. I did pencil in that I had found a William and Sarah Williams Wortman in Peapack, NJ that I thought might be his parents. This William was born about 1721.

Deb: The Dutcher research states Abijah Reed's parents were Clotworthy Reed and Margaret.

Abijah was born 1770 and died 1842.

Thats interesting because I have Clotworthy Reed 1704-1791, then a Andrew Reed 1739-1778; then Abjiah Reed 1770-1842. Does it says what the source was? That would make Clothworthy a father at abt. age 70. And does it show a father for Clotworthy Reed?
There was a James Reed/father of a Andrew Reed in Trenton, NJ at the same time as Clotworthy but I just can't connect them.

No source for this item provided by Dutcher. Although information on Elizabeth Wortman was from a DAR application ID149440 for Marion C. Morgan, accepted October 18, 1919.
