Looking for some info on a Edward Harris. He is in the 1870 Census for Macon with father S. Harris and brother William. In 1874 he married a Marilla Mapes. They had one child Mary Elizabeth Harris. Marilla died her mother (Catherine) took care of Mary. In 1880 and 1881 there was some legal battle for the right to take care of Mary. That is the last of the Harris family I can find. Any help

I am glad to see your post. My great-great grandmother was the Mary Elizabeth Harris in your post. Until reading your information I only knew she was living with the Mapes family in 1880 but not the reason why as her relationship was given as daughter law at 4 years old. Mary married William Haley on August 24, 1892, and then remarried to William Swallow(s) on August 28, 1902. Her death certificate did not list any information about her parents.

I am actually from Mary's second marriage to William Swallow(s). Their youngest daughter, Ruth Aldin, is my great grandmother. Which branch are you from?

I am from the 1st marriage to William Haley. They had a daughter Lina who married a Skaggs. I have been searching for Linas brother Roy. I believe I have a pic of Mary on the farm up in Macon when she was a Shallow. I have the funural card for William Haley. He was killed in a coal mine in Keota Mo. I am up in Wisconsin for a month but when I get home I have some more info if you wish.
