I am looking for information about Olof Henrik EKMAN born 1856 in Sweden, lived for a time in Minnesota, moved to Oregon to live in Silverton with son Ernst Rudolph and wife by 1930, died in Salem, Marion Co. OR 25 Apr 1941. He was buried in Union Cemetery, St. Paul, MN. His son Ernst Rudolph was born in Minnesota in 1887. Ernst married an Ada H. in June of 1916, and I believe they adopted a son James. Ernst was a mortician and undertaker in Silverton from around 1917. He died in Silverton 15 Feb 1966 (obituary lookup would be greatly appreciated!). His brother August, who may never have married, was living with Ernst and his wife in 1920 in Silverton, and his World War I draft card places him in Silverton in 1917-18. He worked as a painter (of cars?). He seems to have moved on to Arizona later.

I'd be pleased to get any information whatever about this family.

You need to post this on marion county message boards. Silverton is not in multnomah county.

Apologies, Kristeen, as I see now that Silverton is in Marion Co. I've already posted a query there. However, Ernst Rudolph's SSDI death record specifies that he died in Multnomah county. As he would have been quite old, perhaps he was living in a residential facility or hospital in Multnomah at the time of his death.

I will see if I can find out for sure. Since SS checks are usually direct deposited a lot of times people will move and forget to give the SS Administration there new address.
A lot of times when I do research I have discovered when it says last known residfence that just means that is where the last benefit was sent no necessarly where they where living at the time. But will check for sure.
I have found some that the SS said multnomah county but they died in WA.
Marion county is only about a 45 minute drive from Portland so you never know.

In the above post you said Ernst Rudolph in the SS. Is supposed to Ernst Rudolph Elkman?

Yes, it is Ernst Rudolph. I now have a final address for him (1966): 8951 SE Fuller Road, where he lived from 1962 until the time of his death. He lived in Silverton from 1912 to 1962. Information is from an obituary notice in the Oregonian. He was survived by his second wife, but evidently none of his children.

Many thanks for these. You have cleared up a number of questions, including which of several names I had were his children (as it turns out, two that I thought might be his children were his sisters-in-law).
