Lehuta Family

I am searching for any information anyone has on the Lehuta family. My great-grandfather came to Cleveland, Ohio, United States in 1911. His name was Casper (Gaspar or Japser) Lehuta. He was born about 1887, and I believe he came from the village of what is now Piestany in Slovakia. He died in 1959 in the United States. Recently (about a year ago) someone contacted my family saying that there was land in Slovakia that belonged to Casper and they were looking for next of kin, whihc turned out to be either my great aunt or uncle. If anyone has any information about Casper or the Lehuta family name/origin please let me know.

You still have distant relatives by name LEHUTA in town of Piestany. www.zoznamst.sk
www.piestany.sk
Take a look in www.geoportal.sk/roep/index.php but I do not see Kaspar/Gaspar.
18 LEHUTAs arriving thru Ellis Island www.ellisislandrecords.org and a Gaspar among them from Postemy, naturalized citizen in 1940, left a sister Lehuta, Maria at Postony, Szt Istvanutcza 46, going to Cleveland, Ohio
An ALL website for research in SK:

Thank you. Much of this I have allready found, I have trouble with the Slovakian websites as I am an English speaker. I also noticed on the Ellis Islad website that an Anna Lehuta, aged 45, also came to Cleveland. I do not however know who she is, and I cannot find much info. I am assuming that Postemy is the same as Piestany as I cannot find any such village by the name of Postemy. I'd appreciate any further help.

Your welcome.

www.zoznamst.sk does have an English version.
Yes, Posteny is one of the old names for Piestany.
You can find it on http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 in Nyitra megye as Postyen.
Anna was going to ? Maczs(o)Michal in Cleveland, Ohio Franklin Str. No. 127
MACO does list in Piestany's phone book. Actually, a LEHUTA still on Szt. Istvanutcza - Sv. Stefana (Saint Stefan)
What are you trying to find on her? Does she show up with the family on a 1910 census? Family went to family in those old days.

Anna does not show up on any census information that I have. I have a feeling she may be family because mine is the only Lehuta family in the Cleveland area. The ellis island info is the only data I can find. My great-grandfathers information mentions a Vrabel (cousin to whom he is seeing in Cleveland). It is on the second page of the ellis island manifest. I cannot make out the first name however. Phone contact with people in Slovakia is probably out of the question however email may be a possibility, is there a way I can contact these Piestany Lehutas by email.

I would suggest a letter with some information about the ancestor, your e-mail address and a photo of the ancestor.
Gaspar LEHUTA was going to a cousin Mare? VRABEL.
VRABEL too in good numbers in Piestany.

Although I do not have any mention of a Lehuta in my research I believe that my family may be who your Anna was coming to see. My grandparents are from Basovce and Pobedim which are both right by Piestany. Both grandparents are from large families and they sponsored each other to come to Cleveland, Oh in the early 1900s. My grandmother's name was Mary Vrabelcak. It was changed to Wrabelcak when they came here because of the pronunciation. Her brother Michael Wrabelcak came over, too.

Are you in the Cleveland area? I am and would be willing to meet with you to compare data. I have a pretty good aount of info.

I take it that your post is to the poster ericdleh88. I do not have a LEHUTA in my family tree.
