I am just beginning work on our family tree. I have some information, but I would like to have more. My great-grandfather, Bernhard Asche emigrated from Germany in the late 1800s (perhaps after 1870)... is there anyone out there who has done work on this same family tree?

My G-grandfather was David Asche from Oldenburg, Germany, emig in 1882, was born 30 May 1866 to Johann Heinrich Asche and Elizabeth Garnhausen. He emig with his brother Ludwig, and lived in the Columbus, Ne, area for a time, in 1890 he moved to the Harlan County area (where I live) and was there until his death in 1954. His obit lists family as 3 brothers Henry, Louis and William Asche. Family attending lists Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Brock of Leigh. I also have a picture of the brothers that includes a sister Augusta Asche Mackenstadt. Please let me know if this works out for some matches in your info. The Columbus Asche family is thot to be descendents of a cousin(s) of David. Thanks.......Pam

Maria, yes I am sure we are related, the Asche family is from the Oldenburg area of Germany, but I dont know if that is the Oldenburg the city or Oldenburg the "state". My great-grandfather David was born in 1866, his father's name is John Henry. They emigrated to Ellis Island on the ship called Elbe. I dont know how many of the family came with him, he was 17 and it mentions some brothers, one is named Ludwig (Louie). If you can come up with a something that connects us, let me know. I am thinking the connection is in Germany. I am going to upload my GEDcom data to RootsWeb very soon, please look for more info there. Pam

My fifth great grandfather was Claus Asche b. 16 April 1709 in Sage, Kreis Wildeshausen, Oldenburg, Germany. He married Maria Klostermann who was born 25 January 1722/23 in Dohlen, Oldenburg, Germany.

Their daughter Anna Catharina Asche b. 20 February 1760 in Sage married Johann Behrend Wichman who born 2 November 1768.

Their daughter Anna Catharina Wichmann b. 9 April 1796 married Gerd Hinrich Kuennemann b. 15 January in Westrittum, Oldenburg, Germany.

Their son Johann H. Kunnemann b. 28 January 1819 in Grossenkneten married Anna Catharina Engel Eilers b. 2 February 1817 in Sage.

These last two, my great-great grandparetns, died in Platte County, Nebraska where all my German ancestors settled.

Are there any Asche cousins that connect?
