I am searching for the following ancestors who were born in West Virginia-Ohio-Iowa and Pa., if anyone who are searching for the same family. Please get in touch with me. I have lots of information on Thomas/Mary J.H. Wolford and their children. But would like to know more on Thomas D. Wolford's parents:Abraham born 1791 and not to sure if his wife's name is Margarette, can't prove that. Until I hear from someone out there, please do get in touch with me. I do my research at home and I do check my email everyday. Thanks for your time, Josephine.

Why be confused by a bunch of brothers who named their sons after themselves, brothers, and cousins.
Here is a hint. Henry Carr and Sarah Peterson of HARDY CO VA had
Jacob
Joseph of ST.CLARE IL
Christina (married Big Rudy Shobe)
Conrad
John
Michael (eventually moved to FAYETTE OH)
Henry B of ST.CLAIR IL
Leonard of MONROE CO IL
Martin Luther of FAYETTE OH and KOSCIUSCO IN
Solomon of DELEWARE CO OH.
I would follow the lines of Jacob and John. I think Conrad moved to PENDLETON.
Henry's fathers name was Johann Jacob, and his mother was Anna Maria Dorthea Hafner Kar. They died BERKS PA.
Sarah's father was Johann Jacob PEterson.
Keep in mind names of grandparents and in-laws also.
What really gets confusing is because they all have same names, many went by middle names.

I'm following mainly the families that married into the Wolford (ie John's branch) family. Of course, when the daughters changed their names, I follow those children, as well.

The confusion is when a document states "John Carr", and doesn't give birth info, it's hard to figure out which John since there are 2 or 3 roughly the same age. You end up looking at all the possibilities.

I like bunches of brothers who name their sons after dad, brother, etc. I reseach the entire family, including siblings, children of siblings, second cousins, etc. Some researchers are content with ONLY their ancestors, and they ingore the brothers and sons. I go beyond that, and research "DNA" if you want to call it that.

Though I recoginize almost all of these surnames, I am interested in Jemima Wolford and John Carr. Is he the son of John Carr who lived in or near Reeds Creek and Dry Fork?
That part of RANDOLPH became a separate county, whose name
slips my mind.
John Carr Sr. was born in AUGUSTA CO I believe. That
changed boundaries in 1753 and was called HAMPSHIRE CO, till
1785, when it again changed boundries and became HARDY CO.
His wife was Abigail ORAHOOD, sometimes seen as ORR/ARROWHEAD, ORAHUD, ORCHARD, which is what the German ORAHOOD means.
John Sr. was the son of Gerig Henrich Karr aka Henry Carr,
and Sarah PEterson. Sarah's father was Johann Jacob (Bidert)Peterson of Petersburg area.
Around 1790 John Sr. got a land grant from the FAIRFAX
propertys. Thats when he moved to RANDOLPH/TUCKER.
John Sr.s siblings were Jacob, Joseph, Christina, Conrad,
Michael, HEnry B., LEonard, Martin Luther, and Solomon.
I am of Martin Luther Carr & Elizabeth Davis.
Jacob married 1st Buffenbarger, 2nd Mary Harper,
possibly lived PENDLETON CO.
Joseph married PRiscilla SHOOK and moved to ST.CLAIR IL.
Christina married Rudoph SHOBE
Conrad married Magdalena SHOBE.
Michael...I believe he married twice. Info at home.
Henry B. married Elizabeth ALEXANDER
and moved to ST.CLAIR CO. IL.
He and Mary ELIZABETH Alexander were married in
New Design, MONROE CO. IL in 1798. Others say
they were married in VA.
Leonard married 1st ? in VA, and moved to ST.CLAIR IL 1798,
where 50% of the BADGELY PARTY died when they got there.
(He had children whose age made them born before 1798)
He married 2nd ? GRUBB in ST.CLAIR IL ca 1800.
They lived in MONROE CO. IL.
Martin Luther married Elizabeth DAVIS 1793 in HARDY CO. IL.
She was the daughter of the infamous John DAVIS of the
CLAYPOOL REBELLION.
They moved to ROSS CO. OH ca 1803 and then to FAYETTE CO.
where Elizabeth died in Wayne township ca 1824.
(I am from their son Reuben C. Carr, born HARDY VA, 1800.
Martin and younger children moved to KOSCIUSCO CO. IN,
where he died in Prairie township, in 1844.
Solomon married PRiscilla BEAN and moved to
Delaware, DELAWARE CO. OH. I believe they may have moved
to a another county, as re their burial place.

I have a list of John Sr. & Abigails children somewhere,
but not much info except some of their spouses.
I know they had a son Eli who was Shacking up with a woman
while he was still married. His wife Patty White was living with the father or husband in the next census.
Appx 1844, Eli and woman died when the family set their
house on fire.
I know I have read up on the Wolford family, but don't
remember the story, and 90% of my info is packed away in
storage.
Hope this helps you some.
