Hi! I am also interested in Hannah Hersey d/o Samuel Hersey and Elizabeth Mayes. She married Thomas W. Estey on Oct. 31, 1833 in Queens Co,.NB. She was from Hampstead. Don't know when she was born or died. Doesn't seem it could be the same Hannah Hersey you're looking for?

I'm not really sure if there is a connection, but the possibility is quite likely ... Daniel Slocum I mention is the son of Ebenezer and Esther Corey ... they had no sons with the either name of Samuel or Abraham. But Ebenezer's father Charles Slocum (married to Sarah Allen) had a son named Abraham (who was very young during the revolution and remained in the states)??? Now this Charles Slocum was one of 12 children born to Ebenezer and Bethsheba Hull of which there were 7 boys Charles, Samuel, Abraham, David, Ebenezer, Elizer and Edward, apparently they all served on both sides of the revoltionary war. This information I've not proven personaly but was passed along, my line as mentioned was Ebenezer Slocum married to Esther Corey and I've been working primarily with these folks ... but a good case could be worked up that the folks ypu mentioned are quite likely related to my folks.

Thanks,
This is good information. I think also that it is most likely a connection here somewhere. In 1819 there were two Land grants in Hamstead, one to Abraham Slocum and one to Samuel Slocum. These two sound like they might be brothers. I know that Samuel died before 1836.I will go ahead and get the land grants and if I find any connection I will let you know.

Dorothy. I have that particular information from the Bureau of Archives for Ontario but did note from your posted meassage Margaret Pheobe (Slocum) Fanjoy is an ancestor of yours ... as she is to me as well ... I'm curious where you fit in on that family line ... In my family Esther Jane Fanjoy was one of the daughters from that large family of Benjamin Bunnell Fanjoy & Margaret Phoebe (Slocum)and is my gr. gr. Paternal Grandmother, she married George Bond Watson in 1884, the couple had a son George Mansfield Watson b. 1885 (my Grandfather), Esther died fairly soon after giving birth to my grandfather (certainly while he was an infant)... I would be interested to hear your connection with this family ... You did mention as well you had information on the Hersey and Hull families ... I to have some information on the Hulls as they relate to the Slocums but have virtually no leads of Hannah Hersey's family other than a few words in a book titled Planters and Pioneers, Nova Scotia, 1749 to 1775 revised edition it's a reprint of Esther Clark Wright's book and it might just be the person of the surname Hersey noted in that book is the family of Hannah??? ... David Hersey Jr. he was from Plymouth, Mass, was married to Susanna arrived in Yarmouth, N.S. in 1763, their children were Daniel, Samual, Martha, Levi & Deborah, he died on July 1, 1791 ... this makes them pre Loyalist which was compares with informaton I received many years ago from a researcher tracing the Fanjoy family, unfortunately all other information I have is limited to the marriage abstract of Hannah and Daniel Slocums marriage in Gagetown, NB. and the bits of information gleaned from the will of Daniel upon his death in 1797, I would be so greatful if you could add more to this ...

Mum was born in Riceville and raised in Meductic so I did have plenty of relatives in Canterbury, Florenceville, Woodstock, Fredericton with one cousin living there and 2 living in Springfield. I was there 3 years ago to visit and would sure love to get back over!! I always feel like I am going home when I go over.

I knew you Esther Jan was married to a Watson but didn't have the rest of his name, now I do.

my email is;
rankin@tds.net

I will have to drag out some stuff for the Hersey papers along with the Hull's. I also have the Dickinson, Howland,Tilley.

Been doing this 60+years now.
The main reason I was doing this today was Frances Gallagher send me an email for help trying to find Geore Whitfield Fanjoy b Jan 24, 187 to a Sarah Slocum!!! Emery Fanjoy said that George was adopted by our great grandparents Benjamin and Margaret Slocum Fanjoy???? I have never found anything on him out side of a Charles Stilwell age 36 in 1891 census having a son Whitfield age 10!!!!
I just don't find a connection with the Whitfield name to Slocum/Slocombe.

I also have the Slocum's back to Anthony Slocombe b 1590/91 in England.

Hi Dorothy,
Could you send me a copy of the New Claim for Ebenezer Slocum.
I am interested in Rosanna (Rosanan) Slocum. She settled up in Woodstock New Brunswick and this is the first link I have found between the U.S and Canada. Very exciting!
Thanks
Kathy

Hi
I have all the Hersey family and the Slocum's, excluding Anthony as the father of Giles. Still think his name was Anthony as he is the oldest son and we still to this day some of us naming our oldest son after the father. His mothers name was Charity and was widow when I read her will.
I also have the Hull's of which Bathsheba Hull Slocum is from.
Send me your email and I will scan that piece for you.
