My Grandmother was Thelma Catherine Cherry, her father was Aaron Cherry mother was Martha Ann Stringer. My Grandmother Great-great grandfather was Aaron Cherry, born Sept 22 1746. Liberty county and Tarkington Prairie are a couple of the locations I have for them. There is a Cherry reunion every year in Liberty county. Hope someone can help.

In searching for genealogy information, I have found that Sarah Cherry (1805-1880) was my great great great grandmother; her father was Aaron Cherry.

In a newspaper article (LAKE CHARLES AMERICAN PRESS, 1990) it stated that Aaron had been a hero in the Revolutionary War, and Texas Gov. Price Daniel proclaimed a special Aaron Cherry Day, calling him an outstanding pioneer of the state.

Aaron Cherry's sons, Aaron Jr. and John, fought with Gen. Sam Houston's army in the Battle of San jacinto in which Mexican Gen. Santa Anna was captured, and later escorted to Washington on horseback for trial. John Cherry also acted as interpreter for Gen Sam Houston when a treaty was drawn up with the Indians.

Sarah married Dempsey Iles, a son of William Iles.

Judy, I do have some articles about the Cherry family. My grandmother would send them to me. I have a picture of Aaron's son John and a little bit of their history. Aaron Cherry Sr was born in Berkeley County Virgina. He had 14 sons and 7 daughters. His parents were Thomas and Rachel Cherry. Descendant of Jean De Cheri. My GGP's were Aaron and Martha Cherry

I read one of the replies to the original request on Aaron Cherry while searhing for my Cherry line. I live close to Liberty Co. where all of Homer Cherry's files are kept at the Sam Houston Historical Lib. Homer Cherry is now deceased and all of his records are there. I am not sure if they still have the reunion, but it used to be a really big one. I might have more info. if any one is interested.
